Re: We Are #SteelerNation
Great write up! I love being in the family of Steeler Nation. You couldn't be more right. I try explaining to my friends how big of a deal it is, but they really think it's just like being a fan of another team. It's not. The Stranger thing couldn't be truer. I'm 15 and I have talked to guys of all ages for half hour, hour about the Steelers, just because we both happened to be wearing our gear that day. It truly is amazing. I can't speak much for the tailgating aspect, I have tailgated a little with my family at the games we went to, I do know the atmosphere is crazy, but I'm still too young (by my parents count) to understand the full expierence of tailgating.
GO STEELERS!
Re: We Are #SteelerNation
I live in an area that has Raven and Redskin fans about 20% each and its 60% Steeler fans. Its about equal distance to all three cities so Steelers still rule easily

our tailgates are second to none as well
Interesting read, but I'm not so sure about that one.
Coming from a ticket holder, the North Shore is not as enjoyable as it used to be when it comes to tailgating. The addition of hotels and stage AE has taken away from the tailgating scene. In order to make room for those hotels and stage AE, they terminated parking passes from tailgaters and season ticket holders.
Don't get me wrong, it's still an enjoyable and impressive experience, especially if you're not from Pittsburgh, but I wouldn't consider our tailgate "second to none" - at least not these days.
Re: We Are #SteelerNation
Saw the Steelers out here in Phoenix (actually the stadium is in Glendale) last year. I swear the Steeler fans outnumbered the cards fans somewhere in the 60/40 range. It was unbelievable. University of Phoenix stadium is in a fairly open area (hey, it’s the freakin’ desert) so there’s tons of parking. The side we were on seemed to be mostly Steeler tailgaters with the occasional cards fans here and there. Inside the stadium, the entire section behind the Steeler bench was a sea of Terrible Towels. A cards fan told me at every game there’s always more fans from the visiting team than there should be, in his opinion. But with the Steelers. He said, “Well, this just ****ing ridiculous……” Then with some hint of envy, he said, “ ****ing Steeler fans……”

I was at the Georgia Dome in 1996 when the steelers came down and there were at least 30,000 of SteelerNation in attendance that day. We kept hearing from Falcon fans "Boy, y'all know how to do it up" when we were tailgating. It really was like being in Pittsburgh. They really respected the way we are and that really stuck with me.

Great experience. I have been to 4 games, but only 1 away from Heinz. I went to a game in Indy. We tailgated with a bunch of people we knew, colts fans, but the game and everything was a great experience. Nobody said anything to use. They were very respectable, even though we won at the end.
Re: We Are #SteelerNation
For sure the comment about the Steeler Family exists not only in this country but around the world. I've been fortunate enough to visit a lot of countries. Not all mind you, but I always wear something Steelers and can't recall NOT having someone say something to me. That includes places like China, Russia, Japan, Israel to name a few.
I went to Tampa Bay game a couple of years ago in Florida. Not that I was all that surprised, but there was an overwhelming B&G vs Red scene in the stands. This crap about the Cowboys being America's team has me ROFLMFO. ( pretty good huh for this old guy?)

I know since the Rivers Casino was built,me favorite tailgating lot was taken away, and it's just not the same.
