Default Big Line Changes for Tonight's Game

    Per Shelly Anderson's chat......................

Shelly Anderson: There is no sign of panic over Bill Guerin's lack of production lately, but coach Dan Bylsma did shake up the lines at practice today. Jordan Staal moved into Sidney Crosby's former spot between Guerin and Chris Kunitz, with Crosby skiating with wingers Matt Cooke and Ruslan Fedotenko.

Yeah, I'm not sure I understand it either but we're not doing much offensively and with the amount of injuries we have, maybe there's better combo's to explore in te mean time with whatever we have left

So Staal is centering the #1 line?

Maybe Bylsma's trying to keep Sid away from Chara... or at least make the Bruins think twice about matchups.

What about Bayda or Caputi? Do they get a shot?

While I realize that Bylsma is trying to find a spark by changing up the lines, I really don't see these changes making much of a difference when it comes to helping out Crosby. Instead of Kunitz, he has Cooke and instead of Guerin he has Fedotenko.

Obviously I hope I'm wrong, but I find it hard to get excited over the changes. If anything, it reeks of desperation. I guess we will find out tonight.

Does this even mean that we'll see these changes in the game tonight? Kennedy worked all pre-season with Malkin but didn't start there and play there in the regular season.

Just b/c they were done in practice doesn't mean it will happen in the game does it?

I would like to see what Bourque can do with Sid. I have been slightly impressed by him.

Not at all. For all I know, Bylsma could stick with the lines he has been putting out there. It wouldn't be the first time we would practice with different line combo's during practice and play the actual game with our normal combo's.

I'm just making the assumption that Bylsma will switch it up tonight because of our lack of production over the last few games, San Jose in particular. IMO, that Sharks game was the last straw so to speak. Fwiw, I'm not against him switching up the lines, I just don't see those particular changes making much of a difference.

This I wouldn't mind seeing at all. I'm not saying it's going to automatically solve all of our problems, but what would it hurt at this point? He's fast, works for the puck and is not afraid to get his hands dirty. I'm with you, give him a shot and see what he does.

I am not sure that any line changes would be very beneficial with the current concoction of a lineup we have. We only have our complimentary players left. Its like asking if you want ketchup or mustard but having no hot dog to put them on.

I agree. I've compared him to TK in many regards. I think he can be that type of player--although I like TK alot so I am not sure that I am ready to put Bourque in that spot just yet...but having him on the 4th line seems like a waste.

Completely agree...if ever there was a time to see what he can do, this is it. I don't think he will become the next luc robitaille or anything, I just think he could produce with skilled linemates. The guy busts his *** out there.

I do not understand why he is not at least better than Dupuis. And by this I mean why isn't he given a chance with Malkin--when he comes back--to see what he can do. If the belief is that even Dupuis could score 15 goals with Malkin/Crosby then why couldn't Bourque? He certainly seems to work as hard and be maybe even quicker than Dupuis...and he'll go to the tough area and fight for the puck.
