Default Kunitz, Kennedy and Nick Johnson Skated During Todays PRactice

    Penguins Report: 3/1/11

    Pittsburgh Penguins

Kennedy, Kunitz and Johnson return to team practice (11:11 AM).
    Pens' line combos (11:26 AM).

    11:39 AM:

    11:33 AM:
The boss is at Southpointe today to watch practice.

    11:26 AM:
From the Pens' lines today it looks like Letestu will be centering between Neal and Kovalev, with the Cooke-Staal-Kennedy line reuniting.

    11:11 AM:
The Pens have taken the ice for their 11 a.m. practice at Southpointe. Kennedy has joined his teammates in practice. A few other positives are that Chris Kunitz and Brent Johnson, both of whom missed practice Monday, are back with the team today. Plus, Paul Martin is on the ice for the second straight day of full practice.

The usual suspects are absent: Crosby, Comrie, Asham, Nick Johnson, Tangradi and Orpik are not on the ice.

    10:54 AM:
Tyler Kennedy, who missed Saturday's game in Toronto with a lower-body injury, did some work on the ice prior to practice.

Where 419. He'll be happy to see this!!

I was talking to a buddy the other day and we mentioned that Staal should go back to centering the line he's best with. I never expected it to happen but here Letestu is skating with Neal and Kovalev...

so let's start ramping up some rumors!! Is this being doen for production alone or is it sort of preperation for the playoffs/Sid's return?

I think, assuming everyone is healthy, they'll leave Sid with Kunitz and Dupuis if/when he gets back.

And why not? They were very good until Sid got blindsided. Plus it gives you two other VERY good lines.

Also, Shero just said yesterday that Jeffery is back for good. That doesn't bode well for someone. I just hope that someone is not Sid and his health.

I agreed and mentioned in the GDT that Staal with Kennedy and Cooke is just something you can't break up, they produce more when together... I love Testy between Kovy and Neal... as far as if/when Sid comes back... I would not have a problem with Sid with Kunitz and.. if it has to be Dupuis, and leave Testy, Neal and Kovy together, and put Staal with TK and Cookie back to 3rd. And if they did that, I wouldn't mind Jefferey on Sids line if he came back this year

It just makes sense... and I know Eagle agreed too!!! ...Too many shots Staaled wide!!!

The Pens need to bury their opportunities if they are to have any chance without Sid!!!

This, When Sid is healthy, put him back with Kunitz and Dups. That gives us the depth to challenge Philly.

It would be a possibilty. You never know what Disco could do or more importantly, what sid would want.

True I mean Sid / Kunitz / Dup is still a good line and it allows for a more balanced team but you wonder if you wouldn't want to at least see what would happen with Sid / Kovy / Neal. Oh well we can have fun with that when Sid starts practicing with the team.

I can't see them not wanting to see what a line of Neal - Sid - Kovy would do. I would be impossible to resit that temptation. i could see if Sid returns them sticking him back on his old line to get him going with some comfort but we'd see him skate with neal and Kovy in no time

someone mentioned Jeffrey staying up per Shero, i saw that too. We have to remember that we'll possibly keep some extras for a playoff run, so Shero could've been referring to that, not anything regarding Sid.

I'm just looking for the positive. so much of my gut instinct tells me that sid is done for the year

Probably depends on how well Letestu, or whoever, is playing with Neal/Kovy.

Of course when we got Kunitz a few years back he was playing well with Staal but the second Sid got back he was paired with him.
