Default Steelers renew contract with WDVE

    Steelers renew contract with WDVE
    Friday, March 18, 2011
    By Bill Brink, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
The Steelers and 102.5 WDVE, the team's flagship radio station since 1998, agreed to a new five-year contract, the team announced today.

The contract begins in the 2011 season.

"We are happy to reach an agreement with WDVE," Steelers president Art Rooney II said on the DVE Morning Show. "It has been a great partnership and I know that our fans enjoy the Steelers being heard on WDVE. We look forward to five more years with WDVE."

ESPN Radio 970, WDVE's sister station, will still broadcast all the Steelers games.

To tell you the truth I'm surprised the Steelers and WDVE are an item. For all that the Rooneys have seemed to be over the years about, not having trouble making players, our perception of them being of better values and morals. WDVE is a bit out there sometimes with some of their talk. I know I won't listen to them while my kids are in the car. Some stuff they say and some of their antics are a little bit more than R-rated at times.
I'm just surprised the Rooneys associate their franchise and name with that radio station.

I don't even consider WDVE as a media for getting my Steeler info. I'd rather listen to the fan or read the stuff here. I listen to WDVE on the way to work just during Steeler season in hopes of getting a tid bit or two but, as soon as the Steeler info is annouced I tune right back over to the Fan. Now that I think of it, I only tune into WDVE when the Fan is having a commercial.

That's interesting to hear your viewpoint on your parenting style, Fezzi. I don't particularly find anything they do offensive; but then again, I was watching Benny Hill routinely with my Dad when I was 3 and turned out to be a somewhat respectable member of society.

I watched Benny too but WDVE speaks some rauncy stuff. When they start taliking about what you think girls prefer as of length over thickness and stuff like that.......... They don't skirt or trim up the words either they, name a spade a spade.
My kids or no kid should be hearing stuff like that.
I believe I turned out pretty good also with morals and all that but, I still want my kids to hold on to their youth and innocence.

    I can definitely respect that.

I'm a bit on the "other side" of things, however, and intend on being so lewd and raunchy when my future kids are tween and young teenage that I'll essentially turn them into becoming prudes.

crazy thing is, that in todays world that crazy **** just might work.
honestly though, part of me regrets bringing my kids into this ever increasingly ****ed up world. They deserve way better than what it is now.

What sucks too about renewal with WDVE is they don't play the Steelers games on the tunein Radio app on my droid or stream on the internet. I would much rather listen to the radio broadcast while watching on Sunday ticket.

I hear you about my regrets of bringing kids into this world. I would like to go on the hope and prayers that, raising my children right will help out this world.

I do enjoy listening to Tunch on the radio for the games. I hear some people turn their TV set down during the games and have the radio on at the same time.

I think my NFL mobile app might help me out with that this year.
