Default GFJ Quote of the Week on Beergate

The fan was apparently trying to get ready for a catch when he lost his drink. He was not ejected but relocated to another section, a Cubs spokesman said.

Jones said the liquid didn't interfere with his attempt to catch the ball.

"Not really. The ball was a little above my glove," he said. "It kind of came down and hit me in the head and the mouth a little bit, but it tasted good."

Dumping beers on opposing players seems to be a growing trend in Wrigley the last few years. Funny how it's always an accident. That's why I hate the Cubs and their fans except Steve Bartman.

It's still intereferce in my book. accident or not, it's your job to control yourself. If a fan reaches over for a ball and hits the player, it's called interference. Accident or no accident. This should've been no different.

But at least GFJ had a good sense of humor about it

I have been informed by people in the know that the beverage in question was not a beer, but a Wrigley Field Mai Tai. The neon yellow cup is the give away.

He didn't even acknowledge it after the play ended. The fan must've been warming up for White Sox series in June. GJ handled it well.
