    Default Inuries

    Per Tomlin's presser...

    Troy/Willie: back to practice
    Kemo: good to go
    Essex/Frazier: limited
    Kirschke: tight back/limited

Aaron smith with a "significant" shoulder injury

    ^^^^ that's not good news

Sure do. Bad enough we can't defend against the pass, with Smith out the last time, we couldn't defend against the run.

Think they might give Zuggy Hood some playing time if Smith misses a game or so?

Ugh.... Smith was the last one I wanted to see injured....

That's the only silver lining in the whole thing. We didn't have a Ziggy option last time Aaron was hurt and Ziggy didn't do so bad in the preseason so we still have hope.

Tomlin referred to the injury as "significant." Wouldn't surprise me if we lose Aaron for the year.

Significant is an ugly word. I don't remember him getting injured against the Lions either. I'm sure Hoke or Kirschke will get first dibs but because of their ages, might see Ziggy getting more reps to keep those old bastards fresher

The injury is a major one and a blow to a defense that is already suspect against the run (see Timmons). Not that he's in the same league and Smith, but I'm sure glad we kept Eason instead of the internet phenom Redman at this point. Now the question is, if Smith is out for the year do we sign Harris off of the Panthers PS?

I have a sneaky feeling he is done for the year. Seems like alot of hush-hush stuff going on with A.S.

The news is in on Aaron Smith, and it's almost as bad as feared.

A source with the Pittsburgh Steelers revealed to SteelCityInsider.com that Aaron Smith will undergo surgery on his right rotator cuff Friday, and that he won't be able to play for at least three months.

That leaves the Steelers' valuable defensive left end out of action until the middle of January, meaning Mike Tomlin will have to make a decision similar to the one Bill Cowher made in 1995 with Rod Woodson, when Cowher left open a roster spot until the Super Bowl that season.

I think with our schedule and some of the cupcakes on it the playoffs are a very strong possibility. However, if he isn't available for the first playoff game then we have to send him to the I.R.

Aren't we 2nd in the NFL against the run?

Don't know how I missed that, I guess perception isn't reality . Losing Smith isn't going to help though.

Ziggy Hood come on down. Give this kid a chance and why not sign Sonny Harris off of the Panthers practice squad? He played well in pre-season.
