Default Steelers Trading Up For Mike Pouncey? Or Just Blowing Smoke?

In what will not only make for a feel good story, but also make a huge contribution to a somewhat neglected offensive line, the Pittsburgh Steelers have expressed interest in trading up in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft, and selecting Mike Pouncey, twin brother of rookie sensation Maurkice Pouncey.

What's everyone's thoughts on the Steelers trading up to get Maurkice's brother? Smoke screen? Terrible idea because of what we'd have to give up? Or the start of another Super Bowl team?

    The problem here is ...

    1. The Steelers rarely move up in the draft
    2. The Steelers move up for more elite type players.

I don't think Pouncey is an elite talent but I think he's a good talent. It depends on the cost. The Steelers can't give up a 2nd rounder and it depends on what they have their eyes on in 3rd round too. After that the Steelers draft very hit or miss.

I think the price for Pouncey would be high. I can't see the Steelers personally going that route for a lineman. Elite Quarterback, Safety/DB, perhaps RB... not Lineman IMO.

    I'll go smokescreen here

Colbert is sneaky (as most are)... I take nothing pre-draft at face value...

My gut reaction (and I have a lot of gut to react!) is that it's a smokescreen, but then, I'm a devious bugger, so it could be a double bluff. The definite maybe.

I doubt Colbert ever tips his hand prior to the draft. to me with these rumors, you can almost bet we wont sign Pouncey.

Moving up is costly. I would be shocked if the Steelers were willing to pay the price to get Pouncey. Nor do I think they should.

This is the biggest smoke screen I can remember. If the Steelers had any interest in Pouncey they certainly wouldn't be leaking it out now about trading up. The Steelers may trade up but it is going to be for a CB. Right now they want everyone to believe Pouncey is their target. Teams that need a CB are going to be ****ed when we leap frog their *** and grab a top corner in the draft.

Here's hoping nobody trades with the Patriots and their stock piling of picks for future years ends now.

I have no clue who they are after but I dont see them moving up either way. They have a formula that works for them. Id also be surprised if they take a CB #1. They need a good CB its just they they dont seem to value that position. And Pouncey? Dont we need a tackle??? We have serviceable guards out the wazzu. Is there a big snack replacement there somewhere?

Well...I have not been able to be as active on here about the draft like I normally am...but I have still done my normal prep work...and I will say it again, and I have said it before, I would not select Mike Pouncey at #31 let alone trading up for him.

And PS...I dont know if anyone has talked about this, but what the hell is wrong with Ramon Foster? The kid can play...let him play. There is no reason to draft a guard...we need tackles, CB, and DL.

Wasting a pick on what will end up being a kid who cannot care his brother's jockstrap isn't worth it.
