Default Addition Of Side Bar Menu's in Forums

If anyone has visited the Pittsburgh Pirates tavern since about 11pm last nightm, you'll have seen that I've added a Collapsible Side Bar Menu. this is the same Side Bar Menu that is on the Main Page of the forum that I have downloaded some Modifcation code for to add to all of the other Forums.

** Keep in Mind that these are collapsible

The first one I've done was the one for the Pittsburgh Pirates Tavern mainly because it's baseball season now so I've been more in touch with the sport of baseball. The goal of these Side Bar Menu's is to give you team/sport specific information. All of the "new posts" are only from the specific team/sport Tavern they are in. The Fan-Site Links, Upcoming Games ... those are also all Team/Sport specific.

One goal of mine here has always been to try and keep each Pittsburgh Sports teams, section/Tavern feeling as if it is it's own seperate website. When you goto say the "Steelers Talk" board, you feel as if you are at a site that is Steelers specific. This Side Bar menu really helps enable that ability even more.

Over the next couple days/weeks or so, I'll be working to add the Side Bar Menu to the Steelers and Pens Tavern's and from there adding anything to those Side Bar Menu's that I feel would be a nice utility for everyone

I noticed about 4:30 this morning. Some of the signature graphics did not resize yet at the time, I think yours. The sidebar will be a handy tool. I recently started utilzing the one on the main page. Under the recent posts, there is room for an ad or something cool like a factoid or re expand the thread banners.

Yeah, there's a few adjustments I need to make as far as alignments are concerned and things of that sort still. I'm doing a bunch of stuff that I'm going to have to turn around and redo aesthetically when I apply the big forum update. Not sure why I'm doing a few of the things I am doing

Initially, I don't like it. It'll be more scrolling to read posts as they'll be compressed into skinnier boxes..

Maybe I just need to get used to it. We shall see.

But making the post boxes skinnier, with the sidebar there, will make long posts even longer.

... Compress it, and it takes up no room....

Wait nevermind. As you all have figured out over the years, I am mildly retarded.

I figured out how to collapse them and it's all good now.

Technically it would condense things a little bit but it would be no different than reading a blog which is the Affect I'm really going for here, combining all of the elements of a Blog into a Message Board or vice versa. The side bar menu really sort of replicates the side bar menu's at blogs except that I have enabled it to be collapsible

Hey, I like the links at the side too! I'll use them on slow nights, at the least, and probably more now that they are visible.
