    Default Mike Colla, a sleeper?

I know some of you guys are down on Anup Sinha, but in his mag, he said that, if given a chance, Mike Colla could be a real good starter.

Well, the Bucs have given him his chance. Here's what he has done:

    Altoona 8-0 victory over Binghamton

Michael Colla is a pitcher really coming on.

14th round pick in 2008, used as a reliever until this season

He pitched six scoreless innings today, allowing only four hits. No walks.

    4-1 record with a 2.20 ERA

actually in his seven starts, his ERA is 1.75

This guy has come out of nowhere this year after being a career reliever. Not great stuff but he’s probably been Altoona’s best starter. Total surprise to me so far…let’s see if he can continue this run. All I can say is.... good guess Anup

It's funny, but in an email to me, he said that sometimes it all comes down to a guess. He says that everyone gets the top prospects right. Its the ones in the 2nd tier that become 'guesses'.

Colla definitely fits into that category. But, nobody else had him on a list.
    Pirates Prospects had this:
Colla will probably return to AA at the start of 2011. I don’t have a handle on his ceiling. He doesn’t have either great stuff or especially good command, although he hadn’t walked many the last two years. Just the same, he’s gotten good results most of the time and is gradually improving.
