    Default Conner returned to WBS

    Welcome back Geno...

    Penguins return winger to Wilkes-Barre
    Friday, November 13, 2009
    By Dave Molinari, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

The Penguins are returning winger Chris Conner to their American Hockey League affiliate in Wilkes-Barre.

The significance of that move is that it leaves them with just 18 skaters, 12 of whom are forwards.

That means center Evgeni Malkin, who missed the past seven games because of a strained shoulder, is being counted on to play when the Penguins face Boston tomorrow night at Mellon Arena.

The Penguins are 2-5 without Malkin in the lineup.

Great news. I did think Connor played well though.

While he didn't have a great game last night, he's definately got the speed and always seems to be around the puck. Putting on a few more pounds of muscle and more time in WBS definately won't hurt his game.

The more I see many of our AHL'ers in action up here...the more I can't wait until Dupuis' contract is up. They provide the same thing for less.

Fantastic News! I'm super excited to watch tomorrow nights game. Been a little while since I've been excited to watch a game.

Now, we should all probably be aware that Malkin in his first game back should be both rusty and with that shoulder, most likely protecting it a little bit, which means avoiding physical stuff. that's just natural but I remember he did the same thing when he came back from the John LeClair shoulder injury. Only thing which would be nice is that Geno scored goals in 6 straight coming back

Conner wasn't bad. He wouldn't be a bad 4th liner perhaps with a solid lineup. Unfortunately for him, he got to play when the lineup was decimated of productive guys so he was perhaps looked at to do more than what should've been expected.

I, too, am excited...It'll be nice to have Geno back.

Connor will make a nice addition to the team when Dupuis is gone.
