    Default Brandon Wood heating up?

He is hitting close to .350 in his last 12 games with 2 Hr's, the 2nd proving to be the game winner in last nights 3-1 win over the Mets. Now I am not saying that the Pirates have caught lightning in a bottle or anything, but at least he is starting to contribute at a time when others are disappearing. It would be nice if he is in fact starting toReap the benefits of all the extra work he is putting. More pop in the order is always a good thing. He looks more comfortable at the plate now and at least looks like he has a plan of attack in his at bats. Hopefully he can become an offensive factor because the Buccos need more.

When Alvarez returns, Wood might be a good bat on the bench.

If Wood is starting to realize his potential, they may give Alvarez some time at AAA.

Then we could move PA to 1b?

Tonight (v 'Stros) is the first I've seen him in awhile. He had quality AB's and was solid in the field. Need to give this guy more time to prove himself .

Play Wood at Short and let Harrison play Third and bat behind Tabata.

Harrison looks like he's hustling even when he sits on the bench! I like him!!

Wood hit that ball about 425 tonight, but to the "Grand Canyon" of that ball yard!

I like Brandon Wood's play in the field alot better than I thought I would as well. He has made all the routine plays as well as some great plays in run saving fashion that ended innings. I don't think he will ever be great, but I do see him being another Rob Makowiack, who did alot of good things on really bad teams. If he ends up playing to that level, then Wood ends up being a successful pickup in my opinion.

I think he can be a good starter. He's only had 500+ ABs. If he has truly learned to 'trust his hands', he can be a force. He was B'ball America's #3, #8 and #16 for a reason.

Currently he is outplaying K-dro all around at 3b.
