he i just now starting to become the guy that we thought we were getting. A nice veteran 1b who still has a little something to offer at the plate. He is now 3rd in RBI behind walker and cutch. I am perfectly happy with how he is performing these past few games. Looks like he found his swing. Diaz on the other hand still has me scratching my head. I know his average is climbing, but i just dont know about him.

What's going to happen is if everyone comes back healthy, there's going to be healthy competition for at bats. Presley looks like he's not going anywhere, so does that push Jones to first? Diaz becomes a rarely used spare part and Paul's splitting ab's with Tabata? A lot of pieces to try and fit in. I'm loving it.

The Pirates will certainly have a nice problem on their hands when everyone gets healthy and their bench will be much better. Hope everyone had a great 4th of July.

Wonderful day with a Pirates win today followed by some nicely smoked chicken wings (w/ hickory wood smoke).

I'm still not too impressed with Overbay right now, but he might be like larouche where he needs a half season to warm up. Granted he dealt with AL pitchers last year so the transition might have been a learning curve that I didn't think of. I'll say the jury is still out. I'd like to see him string a couple of games together before I can make a reasonable decision.

Diaz, he's just not clicking with the rest of the team. You can see that he's not comfortable at the plate and that might be reflecting on his batting. Maybe he's slowly getting more comfortable as the season progresses, but he's from the NL so I can't give him a "transition" pass on this.

It would be nice if Overbay is heating up because he sure can add to the offense when he does hit. I'm glad they only signed him for a year.Seems like Diaz only hits with a lead or when its inconsequential. I don't know if he has had a clutch hit all year, maybe once or twice.I'm just real excited about what the young guys have added to the team. The future looks bright for the Buccos.
