Default Steelers, Sepulveda agree to deal

    Steelers, Sepulveda agree to deal
    By Scott Brown, PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW
    Sunday, July 31, 2011

Daniel Sepulveda will get a chance to win back his punting job.

The Steelers agreed on a contract with Sepulveda, pending a physical. If Sepulveda checks out medically, it will give the Steelers three punters in training camp unless they release one of the other two.

Sepulveda averaged 45.5 yards per punt last season before tearing the ACL in his right knee while making a tackle in an early December game at Baltimore.

Sepulveda, a fourth-round draft pick in 2007, missed the entire 2008 season with the same injury.

Jeremy Kapinos, who replaced Sepulveda last season, and undrafted free agent Aaron Bates are the other punters in camp.

I like DS and happy he is back, but explain the initial "cut" to me?

Do they think he's better than the two camp punters they have? If so, why not dump one?

Health I think is a best thing. The guy has been injured more than he's played it seems in his career. Pretty big waste of a Draft pick considering the relatively small amount of value he's provided due to his constant injuries.

It can't huert to have all of these punters. Supposing that Seppy wins the job, If or better yet... when he gets injured again, we'd have tried out a couple of guys who hopefully are available still

I'm very surprised they signed the guy back. If I had to pick I would say the guy has been injured more than he has played. At least it seems that way to me. I guess when you get into post season or to the Super Bowl you really would like to see the starters actually playing instead of having yet, another injury keeping them off the field.

Seems that way to me, too. I'm surprised he's back.

When healthy, he has given the defense great field position to work with. They gotta figure he's worth one more look.
