    Default WTF? :banghead:

Last night Morton is pitching a great game. Why take him out? 1st batter up....HR. We lose 1-0.
Tonight McDonald has 1 bad inning but we still have a 2 run lead. Why take him out? As I type this, 1 run is in, bases loaded and NO ****ING OUTS YET. C'mon Hurdle. Give them a break when things are going their way. Why do managers have to constantly overmanage the game of baseball?

And now we WALK THE TYING RUN IN. THERE ARE STILL 0 OUTS AND BASES JUICED. ****ing Cubs are going to sweep us at home.

That was the worst loss of the season.

1st sweep by the Cubs in Pittsburgh in 52 friggin years. Not only was that maybe the worst loss of the season, after the way things went in the first half and if they don't get this slide corrected, it could very well be one of the worst SEASONS in the last 30 years.

It's like we did a miraculous job of avoiding that **** clack cloud that has been hanging over the franchise for the past 19 years but this series, perhaps the Phillies series, it found us.

Specifically this Cubs series. We lost by a combination of everything. Poor starting pitching, and then get good starting pitching and lose with zero offense and then get both good starting pitching and offense and the BP blows it.

I can't really classify that as anything else but bad luck

    Bad baseball luck, assuredly.

But, non-hitting, tired arms, bad on field judgments and errors, certainly helped.

Yet, to lose four straight at home to this club suggests something more (or less) than bad "hoodoo."

When he returns, play Presley until he drops or stops hitting; give Wood a long look at SS, and make sure McKenry gets plenty of games.

In September, bring up some kids and let them play, too.

We've had errors and bad on field judgements ALL YEAR LONG and we won despite them. Every team has those things. We ran into bad luck IMO. We got one thing but not another. We lacked that balance, the balance that has been able to keep us contention for the Division all year long. If the hitting struggled, the pitching picked up. If the Starting pitching struggled, the Bullpen bailed it out. If the bullpen struggled, the hitting came through in the clutch etc...

Those are things that have alluded the Pirates for so many years and we were getting them this season until this recent losing streak. The parts of the team that need to help the parts that struggle didn't help

A two run lead headed into the eighth inning. Your best two relief pitchers get the last 6 outs against the six hitters they face and you still lose.
