Good to see this kid setting high goals and reaching them. 100 walks and runs is pretty impressive goals to meet. Hopefully he can keep improving in the power department as well.

23 stolen bases is impressive too! He is becoming the kind of player that is fun to watch.

Yeah, no kidding, those stolen base numbers are pretty good as well. It's nice to have good speed in the system for a change.

Grossman's an interesting bat in a system lacking in that department. At this point he's basically spent a second full season in A+ after a disappointing first shot. He's always walked a lot, but he's really stepped it up this year. He's also cut back significantly on the strikeouts, which was his biggest issue the last two seasons, especially the first. He also looked like a guy who might want to give up switch hitting and just stick to the right side, but that seems to have changed as well.

Power was expected to come at the time he was drafted, but you never really know. Some guys develop it later, some never do. Keep in mind that the FSL is the most extreme pitchers league in the minors, though. His first shot at AA next year will be a test.

I was just thinking the other day that plate discipline for a high school hitter has to be the most difficult thing to project in the draft. With the competition they're used to facing you really have no idea how a guy's going to turn out in that regard. No one expected Josh Vitters to be a complete disaster when he was drafted.

I really like Robbie Grossman and think he has a real chance to be what Chad Hermansen was supposed to become. I'm pulling for him big time to become a key contributer in the future.

Forgot to mention, the stolen base total is nice, but I'd like to see him stealing bases at a higher rate at that level. 71% is nothing special. Any drop from there and you're at the point where you're costing the team as much as you're gaining by stealing bases. Like any A-baller he's a work in progress.

I wonder if stealing bases is something new that he is also trying to add to his overall game as well?
