Bar Stool Sports Website Ordered To Remove Picture

BOSTON -- Boston sports blogger David Portnoy has generated a firestorm of controversy for posting a nude beach photo of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady’s baby son on the Internet, so much so that a cease and desist order was issued and incensed fans are calling the posting child pornography.

Portnoy, however, said he is unfazed by the criticism and has even gone so far as to design a T-shirt with the boy's likeness on it.

"We're built, for better or worse, we are built to test the boundaries," said Boston Bar Stool Sports blogger Portnoy, who admits there is a fair amount of smut on his website.

Portnoy’s website attracts two million unique visitors a month, and he said any controversy doesn’t scare him. In fact, he said he can’t believe the response he received after posting the pictures of Brady’s son Ben with super model Giselle Bundchen.

"I was surprised it got the reaction it did,” Portnoy said.

Fans said publishing the photo on the Internet was, in a word, inappropriate. At Don's Diner near Gillette Stadium, where the Patriots play, the talk was all about the child's picture Friday.

"Somebody took a picture? Why? I have to ask why. I guess I think it's a little perverted," said Bill Doherty.

"It's a 2-year-old. He's too young. He doesn't even know what's happening," said David King.

"Every level: that he can profit from it, exploit children, it's just not right," said Marissa Cerrone.

Callers on sports talk radio have been calling for Portnoy’s head. For his part, he has said he doesn't understand what all the fuss is about.

"This may sound simplistic but I wasn't thinking this was an issue. As I sit Here again now I don't think it's an issue," Portnoy said.

The headline, photo and blog all concern the size of the 2-year-old toddler’s genitalia. Portnoy, however, said he meant the posting to be complimentary to the quarterback.

"The blog was more to point out whatever Brady does he does well,” Portnoy said. "In my mind it's scarier that people would sexualize that photo when really it’s meant as a joke."

Some legal experts, however, said it is no joking matter.

"This is a very serious felony in Massachusetts,” said former prosecutor Wendy Murphy.

"The whole purpose was to get people to look at (the child’s) genitalia, so absolutely -- 20 years maximum and a $50,000 fine on top of that," Murphy said.

Portnoy, however, said he believes the entire situation has been overblown.

"If I thought I could get arrested or thrown in jail, I'd take it down, but to be honest, I would not have put it up if that was the case," he said.

Despite his protestations, Portnoy said he was going to have to take the pictures off the site because of the cease and desist order from Bundchen’s modeling agency.

“The pictures have to come down because I got a cease and desist from Gisele’s modeling agency. It has nothing to do with this being “porn” as these nitwits were saying. This happens a lot with paparazzi photos and I have no choice. All the sites that posted them have to take them down. Suck because it looks like I’m caving but trust me I’m not. I stand by it 110 percent,” he wrote.

He then posted a copy of the order sent by the Celebrity Agency saying, “Once a celeb sends a Cease and Desist to our webhosting company the pics have to come down for a period as they are reviewed. It happens all the time. Just not generally on this hot button of a topic so people don’t notice.”

This is wrong on so many levels. Yes, the blogger is wrong for posting a picture of a 2 year old's genitalia, but what the hell is wrong with Mr. & Mrs. Brady for letting their 2 year old son run around naked on the beach given their celebrity status? Ugh! There are so many sickos out there that nobody should be letting their children run around naked so pictures can be taken and used for someone's sick fantasies.

Sorry... But does "celebrity status" allow for a naked kid running on the beach?... I think not... I have a condo on the beach down in SC, and if some dumbass decides to let his kid go "naturale", I might ***** about it if I'm in the right mood. I don't care who you are or what your "social status" is, common sense needs to be paramount... Sounds like they exhibited usual stardom dumbass carelessness..... No big story, just stupidity.

Celebrities do have to deal with the added burden of tabloids and other "media" outlets, as well as paparazzi following them, that the average citizen does not. Not that that's an excuse. No doubt this is a case of stupidity on Tom and Gisele's part. He's a bonehead and I can't even understand what's she's saying most of the time.

While publishing the photo on the internet is inappropriate, it is the Brady Bunch's own **** fault for letting their kid run around bare *** on a public beach. Let him run around in his diaper or a kid's swim trunks.

I never got the whole thing about letting kids run naked. Our kids always had at least diapers on. Too many pervs for one thing and to tell you the truth, I don't want to see some naked kid.

Last year and this year my company got called to work at the nudist ranch/lodge or whatever they call it. They phoned me around February and requested the work to start in the summer. They had their clothing on at the time since it was cold but, they did ask me if it would bother me to have naked people around while we worked. I said no, as long as some old guy isn't in our faces with his junk. We both laughed and left it at that.

Sure as ****, we go up there to work and we almost went blind. A bunch of old farts for the most part and if they wern't old they were really fat and I mean they had their own zip code fat.
Your standing in a footer laying block and they come walking up for their plumbing to be right at eye level and I'm talking about the women too. There were no hot chicks, no cougars or anything like that. The second day without saying a word to each other we all showed up with the darkest sunglasses we could buy. One guy wore welders glasses.......no kidding..

Back to the topic...........Bradys a dip**** so I expect no less.
