Default What was your first job?

I mean....the first real job that you got a paycheck from. I'm sure all of us shoveled snow or raked leaves when we were kids for a few bucks. I did all of that and helped out a contractor when I was young just running for tools and cleaning up. No payceck though.

My first 'real' job was with Eat n' Park back in 1988.
    Started at a whopping $4.50 p/h.

Out of all the jobs I ever had, that still gives me some of the best memories. I met a lot of good people there.

So...where did you ****os get started in the work force?

My first real job was working in a plant that ground scrap carbon anodes into a powder. Used a valve packer to bag it and then stacked the bags on pallets. It was definitely NOT environmentally friendly. Took showers and used Tide to TRY and get clean every day. I would blow my nose and it was black. When I went back to school, for a few months when I would sweat, the collars of my shirts were black. Amazed that to this day I didn't develop black lung disease or some other ****. It was a character builder though.

18 months in one of Dante's circles of hell disguised as a clothing store. Every day would start promisingly and then customers would arrive and ******** the whole day. This, coupled with the boss' stubborn refusal to give up his habitual breathing finally got to me (plus, my mates would stop by the shop on Saturday afternoons on their way to the pub while I was going to be there for 6 more hours) finally persuaded me that I was becoming a misanthrope.

I stayed for a year beyond that to make sure my misery was felt by all.

I did farm work when I was in high school. I had a couple other jobs that didn't last a month. Then I worked for Giant Eagle for about 6 months. Got paid under 4 bucks. That was like 94 after I earned an associates degree. **** I still don't have a real job. Get paid under table half the time. Whatever it takes. Not having paid vacations and pension is really starting to bother me tho.

My first job was at the Allegheny Luther Home washing dishes and getting food carts from the rooms. It was 1986 for $3.65/hr I got fired after knocking over a stack of drinking glass trays.
