Default I felt like Crosby last night, when I got to hold Lord Stanley.

Last night the trophy made it's way into central Idaho (for the first time ever) and finally, after 37 years I got to see the world's greatest trophy in person. It was soo cool and I have to gloat a little about this, since only hockey fans are going to understand.

You see, I watched the Pens win that cup in 09 in a sports bar in this small town that 99.9999999999999% of the worlds population couldn't even point to on a map. And here comes the cup, right to the sports bar that a few of us Pens fans watched them win it. Talk about a surreal experience. There were about 25 of us in the establishment when they brought it in, and man... I got to fondle Lord Stanley!

I guess, the Bruins winning this year is ok with me now. It was their equipment manager that brought it here, because this is one of his adopted hometowns! Then it went around to other establishments later on during the night, and we got to follow it around and play with it some more. It was like a hockey fans day in christmas land.

AWESOME pics and I'm sure a pretty awesome experience (and lucky one as well).

Out of curiosity, why was the Stanley Cup making it's way through your town? Was there someone from the Boston Bruins organization that is from there?

eDIT : Forget it, I just saw you talking about the Bruins equipment manager. not sure why i didnt see that originally

Yeah, Jim Johnson the equipment manager for the Boston Bruins used to play for the Sun Valley Suns here in Idaho. They are a small usa hockey league team that mostly plays against other small mountain town teams like Jackson Hole, Park City, etc. It's kinda throw back hockey with 50 goals a game, and lots of fighting. But, yeah, he brought it into town.

Yes, it was a very lucky experience. I've heard stories of public viewings in major metro regions, and people couldn't get to really touch the cup. Yet here we were touching it, and messing around with it. Here's a few more .. .to save embarrasment, I left the ugly photo of me out of this : )

I remember back for the first or 2nd cup, I had the chance to see the Cup. Buddy of mine whose family were the ones that Jagr was living with at the time. I of course didn't believe the kid so I didn't take him up on the offer and blew him off. So the next time I saw him, he shows me a picture of him, the cup and Jagr

That is a story of being unlucky ! So, i'm glad you got to feel some good luck and fortune

Unfortunately, I've never seen the actual cup, that the players get to hold, in person. But, I have seen the replica up at the hockey hall of fame a couple of times. It was good enough for me to look at it and see our player's names on that one.
