I kinda hope they pick the clown up. It should tear up the locker room rather quickly imo.

Lewis confirms Bengals’ interest in Johnson
Posted: November 16th, 2009 | NFL.com Staff | Tags: Cedric Benson, Cincinnati Bengals, Larry Johnson, Steve Wyche

Cincinnati Bengals coach Marvin Lewis confirmed Monday that free agent RB Larry Johnson will visit the team for a workout. When exactly that will be, though, he isn’t saying.

NFL.com’s Steve Wyche reported earlier Johnson will work out for the Bengals on Monday and could be signed if he passes a physical and impresses team officials, according to a team source.

Johnson was released by the Chiefs on Nov. 9 following a suspension for posting inflammatory comments regarding coach Todd Haley on his Twitter account and using gay slurs on Twitter and the following day toward reporters.

Lewis said he spoke with Johnson, who believes he still has a lot of game left, last week.

“It’s one of the things I told Larry. We’d judge him on his future and not his past,” Lewis said when asked about Johnson’s off-field track record.

The Bengals’ interest in Johnson coincides with the injury to starting RB Cedric Benson, who suffered a hip flexor in a win over Pittsburgh.

NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora is reporting that Johnson’s visit to Cincinnati was at the behest of Lewis, according to a league source. The Bengals are among a handful of teams to have expressed interest in the free-agent running back, and Lewis wanted to meet with the oft-troubled former Pro Bowler before any potential deal would be struck.

The Bengals have been trying to get away from their image as a team full of problem players and don’t want to do anything to poison what has been a happy-go-lucky locker room this season with the team’s shocking rise to first place in the AFC North. With Benson ailing, Johnson has some on-field allure, but the club wants to assess any turbulence Johnson might bring with him.

Wonder if this means the injury to Benson is significant?

Either way, a strange thing for a team to do that´s supposed to be so good.

Locals here are saying that it is definite... Expect signing later this evening or tomorrow morning at the latest.

Have not done so yet, but it is imminent... He is currently en-route to Cincy today.

Default Looks like LJ may heading to Cincinnati

Hopefully he is washed up because it's going to be hard enough to win this division.

    So, as summation:

The Bungles get rid of TJ ******manzada. They proclaim him to have been a locker room malcontent (which would seem to be bourne out by all the shenanigans with the Shesquawks). Their year starts, frankly, quite well.

They then sign, or appear to be on the verge of signing Larry Johnson, a known locker room malcontent.

Good decision it would appear. Benson was a "problem" as well...so who knows.

Word here is that the Bengals and Marvin Lewis think they have a solid enough locker room so as to "corral" this character... Marvin was on the evening news saying that he has entrusted Benson to show him (LJ) how to "turn around" a bad rep into something good... Apparently promises have been made to Benson that his job is safe... Personally, I wonder how that's gonna work out.... Anyway, that's the word from Cincitucky about this today...

Once/IF Benson is healthy...it'll give them a decent 1-2 punch IF LJ has anything left in the tank.

Your team is in first place, riding a massive wave, confidence is high and you go out and sign one of the biggest trouble making jagoffs in the league.

    Smart.
