Default NL Rookie of the Year voting

    Voting results:

    Chris Coghlan, Marlins 105
    J.A. Happ, Phillies 94
    Tommy Hanson, Braves 37
    Andrew McCutchen, Pirates 25
    Casey McGehee, Brewers 18
    Randy Wells, Cubs 3
    Garrett Jones, Pirates 2

Out of 32 ballots winner Chris Coghlan appeared on only 24, but got more than half of the first place votes which clinched it for him over Happ who appeared on all 32 ballots. Andrew McCutchen only appeared on 7 ballots and didn't receive a third place vote at all (2 firsts and 5 seconds). Casey McGehee actually appeared on more total ballots than McCutchen (8 to 7), but got fewer points . Randy Wells appeared on only 1 ballot with a second place vote despite having nearly identical numbers to J.A. Happ. Garrett Jones got two third place votes despite having a nearly identical season to the one Ryan Howard had when he won the award easily.

Wel.... that sucks. Can't really argue against the season that Coghlan had either

John Perrotto was outraged that Coghlan won (he voted for Happ, by the way). Coghlan was really aided by a ridiculously high .425 BABIP in August and September. He wasn't really in the conversation before September and was kind of a disaster in the field. I don't really mind him winning, but I understand the argument some people have against him.

Some people slowly reveal who they actually voted for. Perrotto voted Happ, McCutchen, Hason, and Amy K. Nelson of ESPN voted for McCutchen was one of the McCutchen first place votes.

I find it really interesting that Garrett Jones didn't really even have an impact on the voting.

I thought McCutchen played really well...but Jones' stats were superior and I thought he'd at least get SOME votes...3 third place votes? That's it?
