    Default Gonchar may return tomorrow

    Penguins' Gonchar may return tomorrow
    Wednesday, November 18, 2009
    By Shelly Anderson, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Injuries continue to make news with the Penguins, and today the news is mixed.

Defenseman Jay McKee has a finger infection that will keep him from playing for two to four weeks, coach Dan Bylsma said after practice today at Mellon Arena. He is the fifth regular on defense to be injured.

On the flip side, it appears there is a good chance defenseman Sergei Gonchar will return tomorrow night when the Penguins play at Ottawa. He has missed the past 12 games because of a broken wrist. If Gonchar can't play, the team will promote a defenseman from its Wilkes-Barre/Scranton farm club.

Also, forward Max Talbot is expected to make his season debut against Ottawa. He had offseason shoulder surgery.

Shelly Anderson can be reached at shanderson@post-gazette.com.

Well... they said Gonchar started participating full contact drills and practices before the ducks game. With the 2 days off before the Ottawa game tomorrow, he should have gotten in enough contact practice to determine whether the wrist is good or not.

Would be a plus to get Gonchar back... coming back from a broken wrist though, I wouldn't expect anything less than Gonchar to be extremely tentative out there against Ottawa. would still rather see a tentative Gonch in the lineup than promoting another WBS guy up

My guess is that Wheeling is plucking players off the community rinks to play D. I would assume WBS would pillage the Nailers ranks to shore up their defense. Thank God Shero signed McKee, Guenin and Skoula!!
