    Default Interesting ND stat...

Heard an interview on tv this morning.

They pointed out that Charlie Weis has a winning percentage at Notre Dame of .580.

The winning percentage of the previous two ND coaches:
    Bob Davie: .580
    Ty Willingham: .580

So........either Notre Dame has proven that since 1997 the football team is only capable of wining .580 of its games.......or........Notre Dame has failed with three consecutive coaching hires.

PS....what did Davie and Willingham do after ND as coaches?

Eric Hansen of the South Bend Tribune said he believes Weis won't be back. He thinks ND will pursue Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh but doesn't believe there will be mutual interest. He said Brian Kelly of UC is the candidate that will have mutual interest. But he added don't be surprised if they pursue TCU coach Gary Patterson.

I think Notre Dame is going to have a very tough time ever being an elite college football power again. Back in the day, 70's early 80's,before cable T.V. was huge, only certain teams were on the 3 networks. Now you can see almost every team if you have the right package. Hell, even South Florida,is in a major conference. If you were an 18 year old kid, would you rather spend 3-4 years in South Bend,or go to a place where it's warm and there are beautiful women everywhere?

    ... Trick question?....

But you are right about the tv bit... ND is no different than a host of others nowadays.

What do you think? Was it a move just because Weiss was a big name and from NE's coaching staff?

Agreed.....when coaches become a hot commodity, colleges fall over themselves just to say they got him or to keep him from going to a rival.
