    Penguins Re-Assign Engelland, Lovejoy
    Saturday, 11.28.2009 / 9:30 AM / News

The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-assigned defensemen Deryk Engelland and Ben Lovejoy to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, it was announced by Executive Vice President and General Manager Ray Shero.

Engelland made his NHL debut Nov. 10 at Boston and recorded his first point (an assist) Nov. 16 vs. Anaheim. He posted two assists and 17 penalty minutes in nine games with Pittsburgh.

In eight games with Pittsburgh, Lovejoy collected three assists and a plus-5 rating. During his stint, Lovejoy saw action on the Penguins’ power-play and penalty-killing units while averaging nearly 18 minutes per game (17:53). Lovejoy notched his first career NHL point (an assist) Nov. 14 vs. Boston.

    By Shelly Anderson, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

The Penguins have reassigned defensemen Deryk Engelland and Ben Lovejoy to their Wilkes-Barre/Scranton farm club, meaning it is likely injured regular defensemen Kris Letang and Alex Goligoski will be available to play tonight against the New York Rangers at Mellon Arena.

One of the criteria that would necessitate Engelland having to clear waivers to be sent back to WBS was playing in 10 NHL games.

Engelland had played in 9 games....

Nice job by both players while they were here. I'm sure WBS is glad to have them back. ...Now what to do with Bourque?

When Kennedy and Kunitz are back, and assuming no more injuries between now and then then we'll be at 13 forwards, so he'll likely go.

He'll have to clear waivers, if I'm not mistaken, but I have I have no guess as to whether he clears or not. At this point, I don't really care either.

They'll likely keep him up on the bench. That's what they did with him to start off the season, so I'd expect that to happen again once we get back Kunitz.

With Cooke out for 2 games, I'm sure Borque will take Cookie's spot.

We'll have one extra body that we didn't have at the beginning of the year - Talbot, and I don't think they'll keep 14 forwards. Godard/Duper/Adams will likely take turns sitting as the 13th. Ergo...
