    Default Could it be that.....

Tomlin and Ben knew that Ben wasn't going to play on Sunday for most of the week, but let everyone think he was so that the Ravens prepared for Ben and get Dixon instead.
AFTER hearing all week that Ben felt and tested out fine, I was shocked to hear he wasn't going to play. It is a critical game for both teams and there can't be a whole lot of film out there the Ratbirds to study Dixon's tendancies and habits.
A LITTLE misdirection like that could give us a little bit of an advantage in the preparation department. If this is in fact the case, I say good job Coach Tomlin

A little subterguge may have been possible. It would certainly have been the smart thing to do.

They announced it too early for that to be the case.

    We only found out yesterday?

It could be, I thought it was kind of strange too that Ben said all week he was fine, then all of a sudden yesterday he is out.

I sorta doubt it... If that were the case, I don't think they would've waited till Thursday to bring Bauman and Ramsey in for a look...

The thing about concussions are that not enough is known and every person can have symptoms for different lengths of time and different when symptoms begin. A person having a second concussion can experience symptoms differently as well. Doctors can not tell you how severe your symptoms will be, when they'll begin, how long they'll last.

I've heard of some people who had headaches immediately, others the next day, some days later. Some with nausea some without. Some headaches that only come when doing a lot of reading, some brought on by exercise, some that just won't go away and you don't have to be doing anything to bring them on. Some headaches that last a few days, some weeks and some months.

I know some people think it's just a knock on the head, it's been happening forever and current players are just pussies. But with all the progress in the medical field the brain still holds many mysteries even to the best neurosurgeons.

So saying all that, I don't think any games were being played. After hearing he had exercised-induced headaches, I think it's just as simple as that. He was symptom free for a few days and then he started having symptoms. I'm also sure with the attention concussions are getting and with Westbrook and Portis, players are starting to pay attention and agents, family and friends are paying attention and are all worried of the long term risk.

I am going to choose to believe that Tomlin is playing games with the Ratbirds, if for no other reason than to **** with them and to make sure they have wasted a lot of time preparing for the wrong guy in a big game
