In the Houston Detroit game, a runner was down, got up and ran for a touchdown. Because the Detroit coach threw a challenge flag, the touchdown could not be reviewed and therefore it stood.

WTF? Just another example of why this league is becoming laughable.

Ya got me. the announcers said something about because it was ruled a TD on the field, it would have been reviewed anyway. Because he threw the challenge flag before it was reviewed, it negated the review and his challenge. A 2- yr old is capable of more logic than that. Can't wait the hear the comments this week about it. No question it caused the Lions the game.

But the coach get a chunk of the blame.
I have no clue how the refs missed the call to begin with.

Mike Florio is reporting that the competition committee is considering banning all blocks below the waist. Get ready for flag football.

Now that they review every scoring play the officials will not throw the flag believing that the review will get it right. If they blow it dead and then find out the runner wasn't down you get the opposite reaction. The rule was made to punish coaches who tried to use a challenge as a time out. Thats what I heard after the game. My opinion is why have replay if they won't use it to get a play correct. As to the challenge flag rule, give them the 15 yards regardless but get the call right.

All this is down to the simple fact that Schwartz is a moron. Last week, the Falcons were burned with the same stupidity. This is up there with the Redskins' coach a few years ago, trying to use two time outs after a single play.

I can see why the rule was put in in the first place (cutting down on extraneous challenge flag use and its attendant hassles), so that's not the problem. Head Coaches with either a lack of knowledge re: rules (which is awful) or Head Coaches with the IQ of cheese.

The play, as a turnover, was up for mandatory review. The referees didn't whistle knowing that full well and opted to let the play unfold knowing that it could be called back after review. Well, as long as some **** doesn't decide to go on a challengegasm and spooge out red snot rags all over the field, but nobody would be that stupid, would they?
