Roethlisberger will start vs. Chargers

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will start against the San Diego Chargers on Sunday, returning to action after missing the last three games with a shoulder injury.

Roethlisberger practiced for the second straight day on Thursday, and Coach Mike Tomlin was comfortable enough with what he saw to say Roethlisberger will start this week.

“He has been above the line in all areas,” said Tomlin following Thursday’s practice. “Really, the only question we can’t answer is taking a hit. Obviously that will be answered in the stadium on Sunday.

“I am extremely comfortable with his ability to work the field both vertically and horizontally. He has great velocity on his ball. We’re ready to go.”

man i wish he'd give it one more week. Dallas can bring the heat and would like to see him well rested for that game. I think Batch would have been more than enough for San Diego.

Its risky but I'd hate to see Batch get off to a bad start and struggle for the rest of the game. I say give Ben the ball for the first half and then onto Batch.

Very nice - time to get back on track and make that playoff push. Wallace said it best...

"We need to make this run. You don't want to lag into the playoffs, go 2-2 or 1-3 and hope to get in. We need to hit a streak now, get rolling and head into the playoffs with some momentum, where we have that power and feel good about ourselves."

I hope Wallace doesn't lag into the playoffs like he has all year, He needs to help Ben out by catching the passes thrown his way. I suspect Ben is going to be looking to get rid of the ball quickly and I hope Wallace is ready.

I tend to agree with your sentiment, SR. I'd rather see him rest at least one more week.

At least he has Brown in there and the probable return of Cotchery. While Sanders didn't have his best outing last week, I'm not ready to peg him as another Limas Sweed - Wallace has that title as things stand right now.

Wallace not only has hurt us this year with his drops, but he hurt himself in regards to his upcoming contract negotiations. I'd like to see the light bulb turn on for him and he finishes extremely well (helps both him and the team).

Will the Steelers play to the level of this weeks competition (again) and let SD stay in the game until the end or will the Steelers put the Chargers away early? That's my biggest question.

If the Steelers can stomp out the Chargers early, then I think we may have turned a corner. I'd really like to see an old-fashion beat down this Sunday and maybe 2 or 3 more to finish the season. It's possible!
