Brent Arrested for Intoxication Manslaughter

IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys nose tackle Josh Brent was arrested early Saturday morning for intoxication manslaughter after a one-vehicle accident that killed teammate Jerry Brown.

According to Irving police, Brent's car was traveling at a high rate of speed on a State Highway 114 service road before it hit the outside curb at approximately 2:30 a.m. The car flipped at least one time and skidded an estimated 900 feet before coming to rest in the middle of the service road, police said.

Brent was trying to drag Brown from the vehicle, a Mercedes, which was on fire when officers arrived on the scene. Officers quickly put out the small blaze. Brown was unresponsive and taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Idiots will never get it. As much money as they make, they could pay someone to drive them around wherever they want to go.

They have no problem shelling out cash on a mansion, a house in the Hamptons, Armani suits and fives sports cars, yet they refuse to rent a limo for a night out on the town - I don't get it.

Don't forget that the NFL has a program to drive these players home if they're intoxicated.

This is another part of it that is so sad. They have so many oppourtunities. I'd take advantage of it. I don't fault the guys for having fun or whatever, but to be this stupid. If you know your going out, get a limo for the night, contact someone you know before you go out, let the NFL's program know, something. Have your fun, be safe, don't kill anyone in the process, and keep your *** out of jail. How stupid are people?

As such, the loss of lives is always a tragic event.

There is a cynical part of me, however, that says "Two College educations and one is smart enough to drive drunk and the other is smart enough to get in the car while the first one commits an act of stupidity".

You can buy an education but you can't purchase intellect.

I can easily see this situation pan out much like Stallworth's or Little's past situations - Kill an innocent person while driving drunk or stoned and you'll be back playing football and collecting a fat paycheck in no time. Hell, Little was arrested again in 2004 for DUI and he continued playing ball after the fact.

Apparently, it's the NFL way.

It's their double standard for sure. Murder someone... get s slap on the wrist, be accused of a crime and not charged... getting suspended for 4 games +

Yep. This is what ****es me off to no end. Now in this case, I put some blame on Jerry Brown for getting in the car with him. It's not like he was in a different car sober. But the guy shouldn't go free either.
