Default Where are the draft picks?

In a season filled with injuries and poor performances there should be ample opportunities for young players like third round draft choices Craig Urbek at G, and Keenan Lewis at CB or 5th rounder Joe Burnett at CB. William Gay seems to get toasted every game and Dashea Townsend is obviously losing a step. Kemoeatu went down and an undrafted FA (Foster) is playing in front of Urbek. This on the heels of 2008 draft busts like Sweed, Davis and Hills. I'm more than a little concerned about the future.

Granted Ziggy and Wallace are panning out quite well but only Mendy appears like he'll stick from the '08 draft.

If an UDFA is playing in front of Urbik, are you that sure that you want Urbik playing??

The point is, why is an UDFA beating out your third round pick..second team pick ? Is there a serious talent evaluation problem?

And why can't either rookie CB find playing time over a guy like Gay or even Townsend ?

    Ok. Couple quick points:

    1. Foster would have--without injury--been easily a top 3 round pick anyways. He's got the talent.

    2. Urbik will never start if you only look at him in practices and in drills. He will never even suit up realistically. Why? Because that has been the knock on him since Wisconsin. However, in games he dominates. I am not really sure how it happens for him...in games he's a monster. Outside of games he just doesn't seem to have the same mean-streak to dominate the OL

    3. Burnett and Lewis? I dunno. Lewis was drafted for his return ability as well...and he's not been given a chance back there--and yes I know the problems in the pre-season, but this is the regular season now. I do not know if they could be as bad as William Gay...but it'd be worth a shot. I think this is part of the problem....the team is sucking so badly in the secondary why not give someone else a try?

How has Ziggy been panning out well? He barely makes it on the field in front of Nick Eason, who is the 3rd DE behind Aaron Smith & Kirshke. So Hood is our 4th DE? That blows.

I really hate dredging up old threads that prove I was right ..but Burnett and Lewis will be playing Thursday perhaps 2 weeks too late.

Im a little uneasy about starting two rookie CB's in Dick's Defense. It is really going to effect how aggressive we can be in our blitz packages! Not to mention we'll be probably be seeing a lot of Mundy as well... I'd like to think, since we're playing the Stains, it will be a good tune up for the youngsters, but the way things have gone lately...Im not so confident

I literally had a moment trying to remember what a defensive interception even looks like from us.

Let's stick with being within 10 feet when their wideouts catch the ball.
