Steelers Make Roster Move, Sign Madison

PITTSBURGH The Steelers announced the addition of veteran CB Anthony Madison to their active roster. Financial terms of the one-year deal were not released.

Madison (5-9, 180), a fourth-year veteran from Alabama, was originally signed by the Steelers on April 30, 2006, as an undrafted rookie free agent. He played with the Steelers from 2006 to 2008 and spent time on the active roster before being released in 2009 during training camp. Madison was signed earlier this year to the Cleveland Browns in September but was released November 3, 2009. He was also signed by the Indianapolis Colts on November 10, 2009, but was waived on December 1.

He has registered five tackles during his NFL career with the Steelers. Madison has also recorded 46 special team tackles with the Steelers and led the team last year with 25.

The Steelers made room on their active roster for Madison by releasing nine-year veteran CB Corey Ivy. Ivy signed with the Steelers as a free agent this past November.

Makes you wonder why they just didn't sign Madison instead of Ivy in the first place.

You know, I was just making a joke in the other thread about us finding ways to make room for the recently cut Madison. I didn't think we'd actually pull the trigger

Good news for the Special Teams at least

Hmmmmmmm,I wonder, since Tomlin is making all sorts of personnel moves to improve STs,if they give up a TD against the Raiders, will he still be considered a do nothing coach by some??

Wow, I expected a little more from Ivy...especially considering the contributions he made to the turdbirds D last year (in a pinch)...

...One question?...If a guy gets cut from the Stains, shouldnt that say something?

They couldn't he was still on the Colt's roster.

I don't think as far as football talent they made a mistake cutting Madison. It's hard to have a lot of ST only players and we all know from preseason, Madison in coverage makes Gay look like a multi-year all pro. But it might have screwed with Karma and screwing with Karma is a bad thing.
But all will be alright in the world again, we upset the football Gods by cutting Davis and Madison and they're both back in uniform now, so they should quit punishing us now.

All of these changes to fix the ST though got me to thinking about 2006. Remember when Cowher cut Chidi and the ST coach wasn't happy and our ST sucked and everyone said bring back Chidi. I honestly can't remember if Cowher ever brought Chidi back and what if any changes he tried to fix ST. Can anyone remember?

If nobody knows I can go back through gamebooks and find out when I have the time.

**** Les, you need to get out more, or maybe less in this case, so you can stay up to date.
