Default Andy Van Slyke at Pirates Fest

I came across this and thought it was interesting but andy Van Slyke not long after being done from his stint with Detroit is taking part in this years Pirates Fest.

Van Slyke is someone that I wouldn't mind being part of this organization as a coach in the near future

that would be a interesting change of pace, i figured he would hang it up for while after detroit. I generally dont waste an hour standing in line for autographs at pirate fest, but i would for van slyke.

I found it interesting that Van Slyke took up the offer to join in Pirates Fest and that the Pirates actually asked him to do it. Knowing that Van Slyke just came from his first coaching stint, I hope that lines of communication between the 2 sides remain in regards to coaching

Does anyone here ever go to Piratefest? I've never been, but now that I'm back in the area full time I think I'm going to give it a shot this year. 10 bucks or whatever can't hurt. I'm sure the autograph lines are ridiculous, but some of the other stuff might be cool.

I was actually wondering if the Pirates did a "fest"..... The "RedsFest" is a huge deal here in Cincy and has alot of promotional stuff geared towards it.... It's a big deal here, and I wonder what the level of participation/fan acceptance it has in Pgh.

They draw about 15,000 fans a year to the recent ones. Not sure how that would stack up with other teams, but apparently it's higher than it was at any point during the 90s, even the early playoff years.

Never been to one. Always wanted to go but they always seem to hold them annually when it's a ***** for me to get out to them. Would love to try and get to one though.

    When is this years?

ive been to the past 2, its really great if you have young kids, lots of games for them and a batting cage. they have a grab bag type deal, i got some nice knick knacks, travel bags and bobbleheads and tickets for a game once. the best part is the question and answer session with whichever pirates are there and JR. 2 years ago when matt morris was there was just brutal for him. Hilarious.

Did they screen questions given to Dave Littlefield? Or did he answer them with answers that had nothing to do with the question?

Littlefield used to have a radio show every week where they took live callers. It was awesome.
