Default burnett's dropped INT could have won the game

How can a DB drop an INT for a game win like that. Last year we got an INT from Deshea in the dallas game actually a pic 6 to win the game, Troy in the AFC Champ Game, Harrison in the SD regular season game and I'm sure there were others.

Goodness I just saw a replay of the play. That is really really pathetic.

I know you can probably roll tape and see Blount, Wagner or JT, Glen (keep the list going) drop one too, but I think its very rare.

We just did not get it done today period. I still can't believe he dropped it though. These guys get paid way more than probably anyone on this board to just catch the ball its not that hard. Just pathetic.

Outside of Troy.... we don't have anyone in the secondary with any hands or any ability to jump routes, read them and pick off passes

Burnett's hands never even touched that ball and it hit him in the breadbasket.

Yep couldn't agree with you more. I sure hope we draft a good safety or a CB with ball skills. It amazes me how many other good CB's actually catch the ball with their hands.

Off topic a bit but is that U of Pitt safety whom plays with a lot of smarts is he a senior? He seems smart at least from watching him play yesterday.

How many times did the raiders WR's get behind our DB's cause of lack of containment by the LB's and DE's and they just missed TD's on overthrown balls if we're playing a better QB those are all TD's too.

And just think about some of Troy's INT's !!!

One-handed plays, that humans should not be able to make !!! These other guys cant catch balls thrown right at them !

I remember TP's against he cowboys last year when TP practically ran the route for TO and got the ball.

Let see now this thread revitalizes my memory.

TP - this year against Cleveland, and Ten (1 handed)

    last year:

TP - Balt (afc champ game pic 6),
Woodley (pic 6 I think in Hou game)
TP - red zone pic in the 1st cleve game which saved at least 3 pts
Deshea - pic 6 in the dallas game
Harrison - big red zone int in the sd non-playoff game

    Anymore to add?

I'm not gonna blame Burnett. He had good coverage on that play and made a nice break on the ball.... more than you can say about the rest of the secondary!

Plus, the guy hasn't played at all on defense this year. He gets thrown out there at the end of the game in crunch time. If anything, that's a good omen that Burnett could turn out to be a future starter for this team.

Watching him in preseason I really, really liked what I saw. He seems to play smart, opportunistic style pass defense. Something that is sorely missing right now with this team. I believe he had a number of INT's in college.

Anyone have a link to the dropped INT? I'm note even sure I can watch it right now, but would like to take a look at it.

Maybe these DB's need to start running routes with the WR's in practice so they can
    1. Practice catching balls for preparedness to intercept passes.
    2. So that they might recognize the routes that they have been getting torched on.

Yeah exactly I mean he is the leader of the ******-backs. The fact that Ryan Clark has gone down hill has hurt us more than anything imo. You have to expect Troy is going to be injured and you can't rely on him but if we have no one at all to step up we are ****ed. And Smith is a cornerstone. Everything on his side fails like dominoes. Yeah we played like **** when he was still playing but he is getting old so in fact we are now missing Smith even when Smith is there lol. There are really going to need one of these new guys to take over there. Especially mr. 1st round draft pick and tbh I don't have much faith that he is going to be stepping into that role with any success any time soon. AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I refuse to pin the loss on that one play. Sure it was a crappy play, but our "vaunted D" had plenty of opportunities both before and after that play to win the game and stop the mighty Raiders.

Our D as a whole was just a failure.

Check NBC's website...they had it on the recap of the steelers/raid game. Probably nfl.com has it too just look for the gamecenter they have plays from each game stored on their site for the last 4-5 years and probably beyond that..its quite an extensive video collection from any game you want.
