Default Is Tomlin the wrong guy for the Steelers HC?

Did he get lucky and inherit a SB caliber team and win one and is in the process of running this team into the ground or is this just a blip on the timeline?

It's too early to tell yet. Was Cowher a total failure up until SB 40?

I like Tomlin. Minus LeBeau, he needs to replace his coaches. I think maybe he might also want to dial up some hardass in his approach to practice and preparation the rest of this year and into next. The moment the season ends, Arians and Ligashesky need to be fired.

This could be Tomlin's defining moment.

I don't think it's any big secret that Arians enjoys some untouchability because Ben gets along with him. If this season continues to go down in flames as it has been and we wind up under .500, Tomlin has some decisions to make. Traditionally it's the coordinators that get to be the scapegoat first - usually the OC. Cowher enjoyed that privilege through various OC's, so does Tomlin.

If Arians is in training camp next year, that will speak volumes of what kind of control Tomlin really has on this team.

That's hilarious. Is that true? I can't stand that arrogant ******bag. The guy thinks he's funny, why? He's not.

Interesting. Maybe Tomlin likes Arians. That would be the scariest thing of all. Then it's over.

I agree that this offseason and into next year will be Tomlin's defining moment as head coach if the Steelers miss the playoffs, especially considering the circumstances of his first couple years in Pittsburgh.

There's obviously going to be some coaching changes, regardless. Lebeau will obviously not get fired, but I think there's a decent chance he retires, although I have a feeling he might be back.

Arians is the wildcard, Ben likes him, maybe Tomlin does too. Maybe the FO doesn't? Who the hell knows.

The DB and ST coaches need to go ASAP. I'd also love to see the QB coach, Anderson, get the boot. I don't have a ****ing clue what this guy does other than pick up a paycheck because Ben has pretty much played the same exact way today that he did when he first got to Pittsburgh. Yeah, he's smarter and wiser but his bad tendencies have never changed that much.

Just watch - if Arians gets canned, Anderson might be our new OC.

    It's a Rooney thing.

He deserves more than one possible failed season before that can be determined. What will really answer the question will be 3 things:

    1. How we finish this season.
    2. Moves made in the off season, both players and coaches.
    3. How he does next season. He has yet to put his own official stamp on this team.

I am glad that they did not extend his contract yet...just sayin. He is losing ammo for a big pay increase.

I vote ( who knows ) because I think it is too early to tell. Tomlin hasn't made a change in his coaching staff since he has arrived that I know of. He wins a Super Bowl in his second season and I'm sure he feels the coaches are a part of that. I think there is a coach on this team that needs to go and his name is Arians. He has no or shows no skills of adjusting to the game. He also doesn't take charge of a game when it comes to putting his stamp of a personality on the unit.
What does our offense do really well ? Besides the Ben scramble and throw on the run ? Even when we do get in gear, Arian out smarts himself and makes changes.

Who ever suggested to Tomlin to allow McFadden to leave should get back hand too. If we are in the same boat next season and Tomlin still doesn't make coaching changes, this game or team is too big for him.

Drafting has a huge part of a measure of a HC's success and I agree - it's too early to make a valid determination.

Maybe someone smarter than me can list Tomlin's draft picks since he arrived and their playing status (ie: starter, stud, dud, cut, etc.).

Times like these everything gets questioned, I understand that. Tomlin is going to be around for a while tho imo. Good or bad, he is our guy. I do have a lot of questions about him though no doubt about it.

I will give him an auto 2 more years, then after that it comes down to mediocrity....if the Steelers are willing to tolerate that....... if that is all he can give us.

Heard a great stat tonight watching the post game shows....this is only the
2nd season in the last 19....................that Cincy is guaranteed a winning season.

I don't know weather to laugh or cry about that cincy stat.
