    Default looks like Bobby Crosby...

Is gonna be a Bucco. Even though he doesn't have a great bat, I gotta say I like the move. Average and power may not be there, but he sure seems to get the hit when it is needed. Who knows, maybe a change of scenery will help his bat.

As long as this isn't the marquee move this offseason, I'm ok with this. I'm not chomping at the bit to see him in a pirate uni, but this is a step above dumpster diving, and it's not a big step. If this gets Bixler off the 40 man, I'm happy as well.

If it's just for a backup... no problem. If it's for anything more than that, no thanks. Sounds like this is a backup signing, in which case I'm fine with it. I personally don't like anything about Crosby

After seeing how quickly things can spiral for Cedeno while he was a cub, Crosby will be a nice back-up.

...wonder if he's distantly related to Doug DeCinces?

Might be for a backup role...or.........

Something else: Be quite sure that the Pirates are bringing in Crosby with the idea that he can [HIGH-LIGHT]seriously challenge to be the starting shortstop.[/HIGH-LIGHT] I will get into this more later, but most of Crosby's injuries -- and that is where scouts point when explaining his decline -- have come not at all in the injury-prone mold: He broke an ankle when colliding at home plate with Sal Fasano, he took a fastball that broke two ribs, another one that cracked his left hand. The back, from what I am told tonight, has not been an issue for the past three years.

We will get to see for ourselves in spring training. Here's hoping for good results from a change of scenery I believe this will end up being a good sign.

Hope you're right steel. We're due for some good breaks, and hopefully not any of Crosby's bones!

I just came across this but..... bobby Crosby has been working with Mark McGwire this offseason. Reports had surfaced that Matt Holliday and someone else have really raved about McGwire as a hitting teacher in his short time since his hiring.

don't know what to make of this if anything... but figured I'd throw it out.

My question is will he where number 87? Then the Pirates could get a couple Pens jerseys for him to wear.

It just makes sense, sorta like when the Pens had Steve Hienz and he wore 57.

The move itself is telling, I don't think he signs unless he was assured at a fair shot to start. I guess I missed Cedeno's lapses, I was surprised at his power and how well he played for us, almost like he was ****ed and that he was proving former teams wrong. Also it makes Vasquez pretty useless. Perhpas we will see him moved, he is a big salary for us but not for other teams. I am all for anything that keeps Bixler from being part of the team.
