    Default McShay's latest

    Hey it's never too early.

    http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft...ory?id=4730972

    13. Pittsburgh Steelers

    Record: 6-7
    Bryan Bulaga*, OT, Iowa

Bulaga plays a bit high and his footwork could be better, so he would be a bit of a reach here, but Pittsburgh needs help at tackle and he's the best available.
McShay has the best cover corner as Joe Haden, CB, Florida.

That's ridiculous. We just paid a huge amount of money for Starks at LT.

McShay has the best cover corner as Joe Haden, CB, Florida.

That would be a great pick if we were picking 31 or 32 but we will probably be picking in the low teens. No way are we going to select an offensive lineman that may be a work in progress. If it's not a guy that can step in and make an immediate impact we will be looking elsewhere.

If I were running the show, I would consider S Taylor Mays and put him at SS and move Troy to FS to just sit back there and ballhawk. I think Troy would make an AWESOME free safety and Mays an awesome strong safety.

Mays is 6'3" 230 lbs and runs a 4.3 40yds. If we are blitzing our SS I think he would be a demon.

Don't think I would switch their positions around, but I'm ALL for drafting Mays.

Ugh. Why draft a safety when that's about tenth on the list of needs? The continual safety talk is driving me crazy!!

10th on the list of needs? Yeah, we can just keep 33 year old Ty Carter around for a few more years

Les, I would move Troy to extend his career. I think he would be a pro bowl FS from the get go and having him ballhawk instead of blitz in the midst of 300 pound linemen will keep him healthy. We can blitz Mays whose body is more like a linebacker than a safety but has the wheels to cover.

That would be an absolutely terrible selection for the Steelers. Who the hell picks a RT in the middle to the top 3rd of the NFL draft?

Also, I think that his mock is already out-dated since Locker is returning to school I believe.

What's the point of paying two safeties 8 or 10 million dollars when you have no cornerbacks, and need help at inside linebacker and on the defensive line? I don't think Clark will be back and I think the Steelers will find a replacement. They found him on the Redskins' trash heap, after all. And let's not forget that Mays, while big and fast, can't cover and has hands as bad as our cornerbacks. It's just not going to happen.

Yeah, Mays is the first or second best safety coming out of college but can't cover at all.

Where are you getting 8 to 10 million dollars? I hope you don't mean per year cause you don't know what your talking about if you do.
