WVU's Holliday front runner for Marshall job
    Wednesday, December 16, 2009
    By Colin Dunlap, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Sources close to the situation confirmed to the Post-Gazette Wednesday night that West Virginia football associate head coach/director of recruiting John "Doc" Holliday is in the process of interviewing for the vacant head coaching position at Marshall and is considered the front runner for the job.

Holliday, 51, who has been at West Virginia the past two seasons, is considered one of the top recruiters in college football. He has previously been an assistant at Florida and is heavily tied into recruiting in that state.

He also was on the Mountaineers' staff from 1979-99, has been an assistant at North Carolina State and was a player at West Virginia from 1976-78.

The sources also have confirmed that Holliday could be selected as Marshall's coach as early as late Wednesday or Thursday.

If Holliday leaves for Marshall, it will undoubtably hurt the recruiting for WVU (as stated in the article about his prowess)... Not to mention being in the same state down in Hunnington... Sure, WVU owns the state in this regard, but losing him will only hurt their overall situation IMO.

... Beyond that... Good for him!
