    Default Laugh track

Whatever happened to it. I am just watching Pink Panther the cartoon here and it seems weird that a cartoon would have a laugh track but if you think about it, at the time it would seem totally natural because every show had a studio audience. I don't watch much tv these days, or sitcoms anymore but do current shows use laugh tracks? Could you imagine a football game without the crowd cheering? I like the studio audience.

Not sure what happened to the laugh track. I was watching Banana Splits the other night and heard the laugh track. Not sure anyone current shows use it or not.

I did some searching I know there are some recent sitcoms but not sure about current ones that are recorded in front of a live audience. Seemed like they all were back in the day. Would like to see more of that live performance with programs today. I was reading about the Drew Carrey show which was in from of an audience and if they didn't get a good reaction from the crowd they would rewrite the joke on the spot. Those guys are amazing comedic performers, I got addicted to watching who's line is it anyway for a while.

While most sitcoms ARE filmed in front of a live audience nowadays, a lot of times a laugh track is inserted in post-production to "sweeten" lines that don't get (in the producer's opinion) "big enough" laughs.
This primarily because most current sitcoms aren't funny. At ALL.
