    Default Gonchar injured

Penguins defenseman Sergei Gonchar left the team's practice on Friday. See 11:29 AM and 2:15 PM entries for details...

    2:15 PM:
Here is an update from head coach Dan Bylsma regarding Sergei Gonchar's status for Saturday's game at Tampa Bay:

"He was better today in terms of dealing with his injury. It wasn’t great on the ice. Without a morning skate tomorrow it’s tough to think we are going to have him. We are hopping he continues to progress like he did coming into today. If that is the case it could be a warm-up decision."

And people wounder why I am ok with trading a soon to be 35 year old Defensmen if I get a good deal. He will comand a 4+ year deal and if he retires at anytime where on the hook for the rest of his contract no thanks.

That is the downside of not trading Goinchar, he has slowly become a major injury liability the past couple of years. some not his fault (like Ovaries illegal knee on knee) but he seems to becoming a bit more injury prone with age

If a player is injured then he still gets paid, while he is still injured.

If he decides to retire no one is on the hook to pay the guy.

As much as I hate to say it, was his absence even noticable tonight?
