    Default Today's Win...

I know it's tough rooting against the team you love, but all the Steelers did today was ruin their draft position, probably by about 6 to 8 spots.

They draft #20-#22, instead of about #14.

While that might not mean much in Round 1, it means a lot in 2 through 7.

(Woodley called the New England action, just about right.)

I look for Gay, FWP (who did nicely today), Reed, maybe Hampton (whom I hope they will keep), Spaeth, Kirschke, Eason, and a few others not to be on the roster next season.

I would hope they mgiht consider moving Wopodley inside and trying Timmons otuside. Our inside tackling was atrocious as well as out Saftey tackles.

Colon should be moved inside to OG or even C, if he can play that position.

Last thougt, how long do you think the Steeler D would hold up in a playoff game against a top team? Yes, me too!

Brady, Rivers, or Manning would throw for around 700 yards vs our D

For me, I root for my team on the field moreso than off the field. The hell with where one drafts. If there is someone we want bad enough in the first round and can swing a deal, we will trade up come April.

As for the D holding up against a top team in the AFC, depends on who. Depended on who they drew in the first round if they got in as the 6th seed, I would call San Diego and Cincy as our best matchups off the top of my head, the other top teams, not so much.

I don't see how that would help.Woodley is pretty bad at tackling himself.

Totally disagree with this. Who gives a ****? They got a W. W's build and bring back more confidence than moving up 2 spots for a draft pick.

Sorry man, but that's just a ****ty way to look at the end of a sub-par season... You ALWAYS want your team to win... You ALWAYS want the players to give their all... I have never subscribed to that line of thinking, and never will... The chips fall where they may, and we draft wherever we draft... But the team should always give 100% and try to win every game... IMO....

That line of attitude, if subscribed to by various organizations, would lead to numerous games being played at a sub-professional level, and us as fans do not get a sub-discount for attending them...

That is just one issue of it all... And it all goes down hill from there.

    Play to win. Period.

I feel a lot better about this team than I did four weeks ago after they slept walked through what should have been a gravy game.

Agree totally--- who cares about next year and the draft !!!! The only thing we should concern ourselves with is THIS season--- Pitt winning, and if that doesnt get it done, the Dolts and the Pats both losing in the playoffs for tanking !!!

Especially Mr. Pullmystarters in Indy !!!

The only bright spot about finishing third in the division is that the Steelers will be playing the third place teams in the AFC East and AFC West instead of the 1st or 2nd place teams. Of course, it was the 3rd and 4th place teams that beat the Steelers this year, so maybe it's not such a good ting.

Would you have rather brought back confidence in 2005 or pick up Roethlisberger?

I disagree about Colon. He just needs to go away. This project offensive line just isn't cutting the mustard. One, maybe two, guys should feel solid about their spots for next year.

Ben was drafted for the 2004 season, so that would have been bring back confidence in 2003.

Today's win allowed the Steelers to finish 9-7 and on a positive note. It sends me into the offseason feeling better about this team than I should, in light of all of the issues surrounding this team.
At least the team showed some fight and pride in these last 3 games.
Now it is time to make some necessary changes, both in coaching staff and personnel. Tomlin and Colbert have to be very thorough and precise with these changes, and they need to plan how to use free agency and the draft to address the player moves.

Yeah, I don't I agree with that sentiment.

I've never been as down on a win as I have today. Nothing has been fixed. Our secondary is laughable. Couple of picks, but a ****ing 3rd string QB was shredding them. Gay sucks, Clark got lucky with a pick but his coverage is soft. Yeah, he can hit but what good is it after the completion?

Our O-line blows, they couldn't block sunlight. Ben's hurt (again), Troy's never coming back, Sepulveda sucks for a 4th round pick. 4th quarter meltdown....

Same old ****ing story all season long. If we wind up hitting the lottery and get that playoff berth which seems a million to one at this point there was nothing I saw today (or the past 6 or so games) that gives me any comfort that they'll come out and play solid football in the playoffs.

Woodly decided to get a couple sacks today, good for him.
