    Default Ben's arm injury

Has anyone seen any information on Ben's arm injury? I am surprised I haven't seen anything. Usually when Ben gets a hangnail it is national news.

The replays made it look not too bad, but then Ben's face made it look like he took a bullet in the shoulder.

    Drama Queen?

Well for one thing he held it to his side the rest of the game and then every time he would throw one afterwords he was wincing. You take that how you want to but if it was serious, he wouldn't have been making those passes. Quite frankly he was still throwing a pretty ball at that point. If he wasn't really in pain then maybe he just trying to get into the head of the opponent and fair play for that. It is a game after all. And if that makes him a drama queen fine but the drama is all in his actions, you don't really hear him complain about being hurt in interviews and ****.

Bradshaw used to do the same things. I was watching an interview of his with Steve Sabol and Terry laughed about how he be carried of on a stretcher and make a miraculous 2nd half comeback. It fired up his teammates and got in the opponents heads.

Jeez, come on guys, I guarantee you with the way he fell, his mechanism of injury, he dinged up his AC joint*.

I doubt that he separated it, but I'm sure it was injured nonetheless.

    * http://health.myblankhurts.com/2009/...er-separation/

The injury actually involves the acromioclavicular joint (also called the AC joint). The AC joint is where the collarbone (clavicle) meets the highest point of the shoulder blade (acromion). In an AC shoulder separation, the collarbone separates from the shoulder blade. It’s most commonly caused by a fall onto the tip of the shoulder or onto an outstretched arm. (which is exactly how Ben fell - VI)
As far as after the injury, I thought that although he could still throw, it was pretty apparent that he didn't have his usual zip on his passes.

I am not trying to say he was playing it up. I have no idea, obviously. But that label has been thrown out there associated with him before. And since we have heard nothing of the injury 2 days post game it must not have been a huge deal.

I was just hoping it wasn't rotator cuff problems or something of the like.

On a couple of those sacks this season I had visions of Tommy Maddox starting to throw and his arm being grabbed from behind. Like the play that started Bens career.

Exactly van, anytime this guy gets hurt he's automatically labeled a 'drama queen' it really gets old after a while. It's amazing to me that some Steelers fans still rag on this guy no matter what he does

Especially since he gets hit more than a lot of NFL QBs! The injury thing with Ben will never go away in his career; it is partly a result of his size and the way he plays.

He isn't the easiest QB to watch, but he's successful!

I agree. Ben's act is old.

Where is the dislocated shoulder report, torn ligaments? You don't go from dangling your arm around all game only to have Mister Miyagi slap his hands together, place it on your shoulder and make everything miraculously better.

    Example #1

Yeah, as soon as I saw him wincing in pain I thought to myself "Boy, I sure hope he tore some ligaments or a rotator cuff"

And it wasn't "all game" it was in the 4th quarter for ****s sake.

People,I'm NOT saying that Ben didn't get hurt the other day. What I'm saying is that he is a bit of a drama queen. Can't deny that. All you need to do is look at his past injuries to see that.

Oh,btw,Ben is my favorite Steeler,so it's not like I have it in for the guy.

Ever slip and fall and land awkwardly on a body part? It hurts for a while but usually nothing serious. Maybe he just bruised it. Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm not so sure with our season being over and all that they really have to report injuries or update us anymore? I'm not a huge Ben fan but that guy has played hurt more times than a lot of other QB's so give the kid a break!
"He had no teeth, and he was slobbering all over himself. I'm thinking, 'You can have your money back, just get me out of here. Let me go be an accountant." I can't tell you how badly I wanted out of there." Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

If Hines Ward limps on his bad hammys, which he did from time to time a bit the last few games, is he a drama queen too?

    Holy hell guys.

As far as Ben keeping his arm hanging down to his side between plays in the 4th quarter, some of you need to read up on the definition of antalgic posture:

    http://medical-dictionary.thefreedic...y.com/antalgic

counteracting or avoiding pain, as a posture or gait assumed so as to lessen pain.
I'd be willing to bet the farm that he has/had a Type I AC joint sprain.

I don't see on here where someone said that in this instance, 'Ben is just being a drama queen'.

He has played up injuries in the past and has been called out on it by his head coach (Cowher).

I hope he has no structural damage and it was just Peezy gave him a charlie horse under the pile as he rolled up on him. Who knows.

I am sure it will be asked in today's press conference.

Didn't he say he had broken ribs or a toe and the Steeler doctors knew nothing about it? Also, wasn't there a time when he told the media "I heard something pop" and it turned out to be nothing. Also, didn't the doctors clear him to play against the Ravens and say he passed all his test with flying colors only to have him sit out?

Nobody is questioning Ben's toughness but sometimes he milks every little thing for all it's worth.
