Seahawks fire Mora, plan to interview Frazier
Posted: January 8th, 2010 | Steve Wyche | Tags: Jim Mora, Leslie Frazier, Minnesota Vikings, Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks have fired coach Jim Mora and have already arranged to interview Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier, according to sources with knowledge of the developments.

Mora, who inherited a 4-12 team, spent just one season as coach after being promoted as a defensive assistant in 2009. Seattle was decimated by injuries and inconsistency and finished 5-11.

It was Mora’s second head coaching job, having led the Atlanta Falcons to a 26-22 record from 2004-2006.

Frazier, meanwhile, has been contacted by and will interview with the Seahawks in the near future. Frazier recently interviewed for the Buffalo Bills’ head coaching vacancy.

Wow, easy come, easy go. That dude inherited a mediocre, old team. Maybe the Seawhiners will hire Arians!

Supposedly, they are also interested in Pete Carroll...

Whoa, whoa, whoa... Back the dumptruck up a moment...

    1. Pete has been offered other jobs in the past.
    2. He has not accepted it yet.
    3. As a driven coach, I'm sure he feels the "unfinished business" thing.
    4. USC is not a "sinking ship".
    5. What qb transfer?
    6. Basketball does not equate to football.

... C'mon man, show some love!........

    HAHAHA!
    1. Pete is a joke artist that won't cut it in the pros.
    2. Pete has an offer on the table which is what he is mulling over, that is why Mora has been fired in the first place for Carroll to join Seattle.
    3. It is a shinking ship and Pete is the biggest rtat on that sinking cheating rat invested program.
    4. Aaron Corp.
    6. Yes it does...and so does Bush and the rest of those player from USC that accepted money.

No love for that group of scum.

    McKnight leaving USC for draft

USC junior running back Joe McKnight said Friday that he will enter the upcoming NFL draft.

"The time is right," McKnight said. "This was my first healthy season and I really don't want to come back and risk injury."

The Trojans held McKnight out of the Emerald Bowl against Boston College in December amid an ongoing investigation into whether he violated rules by using an SUV that does not belong to him, as well as his relationship with the vehicle's owner, Santa Monica businessman Scott Schenter.

McKnight was not cleared in time by USC's compliance department to participate in the Emerald Bowl, a 24-13 victory for USC. He said Friday that the ongoing investigation did not factor into his decision to leave school early.

"If I would have come back it would have been to pursue the Heisman," said McKnight, who also spoke of the difficulty of being compared with former USC running back Reggie Bush.

"My career was OK," McKnight said. "It was good, but not like Reggie. There was a constant pressure to be like Reggie."

McKnight was USC's first 1,000-yard rusher since 2005. He gained 1,014 yards, scored eight touchdowns and averaged 6.2 yards per carry. The Trojans finished 9-4, their worst season since 2001. The Trojans failed to make a BCS bowl and win the Pac-10 title for the first time in eight years.

Joe Schad covers college football for ESPN.

Well, I won't argue opinions... We all have differing ones, and none are wrong...

But the above quoted is worthy of comment...

Corp leaving does not indicate anything other than he thinks he'll sit behind Barkley, nothing more... It's the same situation why Brock Huard transfered from Florida to Miami, because he knew he would sit behind Tebow (even though he was the upper classman).

Yes and no, it is because he found out that Carroll was leaving amid all kinds of violations....probably a combination of things. The timing is an indication of that.

If Carroll doesn't end-up going, be prepared for lots of good-natured ribbing...
