Default Steelers' Shipley signs with Eagles

    Steelers' Shipley signs with Eagles
    Monday, January 11, 2010
    By Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Center A.Q. Shipley, a Coraopolis native who hoped to follow in Mike Webster's footsteps with the Steelers, signed with the Philadelphia Eagles today.

Shipley, who started 39 games at Penn State and made several All-American teams, was drafted in the seventh round by the Steelers last year. However, he did not make the team and spent the season on their practice squad.

The Steelers tried to sign Shipley to a contract for 2010 last week but he balked and was the only member of their eight-man practice squad who did not re-sign.

Wow! Nostradamus, the dude didn't have one career start but was a career PS guy? Didn't know you could see that far into the future.

Can you tell me who will be coaching the Steelers in 2011? Please tell me it's not Tomlin.

Strangely, having Shipley sign with someone else isn't that surprising. I feel that we need someone to plug right in to the Centre position. Hartwig's been pushed around like a buggy in a store for the past... well, since he's been here.

Shipley didn't get a shot this year because, I presume, he didn't meet the expectations of the coaches. Time to start looking for the next Mansfield/Webster/Dawson/Hartings.

Yep, could be the answer. I noticed that his on-field time seemed to increase as the year progressed. I think the guy might well have "it".

This isn't the first time philly has taken one of our project centers. Hank Fraley(another local boy from Robert Morris)was claim off of practice squad and was philly's starting center for a few years. He was the stains starting ctr this year.

Slap some classic rock on the headset instead of the R & B that Tomlin listens to know on the sidelines, say some clever things at the press conference, fail to make changes and let my assistants do all the work.
Where do I send my resume because I am ready to take this team to the Super Bowl?
