    By Gerry Dulac, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Linebackers coach Keith Butler has turned down the Miami Dolphins' offer to become their defensive coordinator and will remain with the Steelers, the Post-Gazette has learned.

Butler, 52, who has been with the Steelers for seven seasons, worked for two years in Cleveland with Dolphins Coach Tony Sparano (1999-2000). He is considered to be the person who will become the Steelers defensive coordinator whenever Dick LeBeau retires.

You would think that there is something going on...unless he didn't particularly like working for Sparano.

    Default Keith Butler is staying

Keith Butler has turned down Miami for the DC job. It sounds like he's waiting for Lebeau to retire and inherit the Steelers DC job.

    Butler stays put with Steelers

Could be as simple as the Steelers matching the money and Butler realizing that their is more job stability than in Miami

I bet Butler knows he is the next in line if Lebeau retires. Then again, some guys like what they do and do not feel the need to climb to the top. Being a cog in a franchise like the Steelers isn't a bad thing.
