    Default And now Clark?

I get the feeling the FO is gonna use the 2 tags they have, I may be wrong. I would like to see Clark for at least one more year. Not sure if we have anyone ready to come in.

When was the last time we tagged someone? Starks I think, and aside from that - hardly anybody in our history.

True, usually not our style, but who knows with 2011 and the bull**** it may hold? I do believe owners and FO's are taking everything possible into consideration.

This would be the year if any that both tags be used with the uncapped season and protecting players and such, not to mention Free Agency..

Clark works really well with Troy and Troy values the hell out of that. I remember when Hope left, Troy wasn't pleased because he depended on Hope and he has that trust with Clark... which is important.

Without Troy, Clark looks like mud as a safety and "without" Troy is a pretty normal annual occurance, you just don't know how any "without Troy's" you're gonna have per season

Oh yeah... I said Sign him. I don't even think he was making $2 million last year. He can't be that much

Tag him for 1 year... As already said previously, we don't have any other viable options that are reliable at this point in time.

... As a sidenote, will the uncapped year affect some of this line of thinking with players?

Not sure if I totally get how it works but don't you get like the highest market value for your position with the tag? He could get a serious raise with the tag. They could get him for 2 or 3 years for what that tag might be worth or am I way off?

I thought the average of top 5, but I'll be honest, I'm not sure either.

That would make sense but that goes along with my point that we would be stackin papers with a tag this year. I think you reserve the tag for guys that are worth at least close to what the tag is worth, like Casey.

    No need to tag him.

Don't think the offers from outside the Steelers will be all that enticing.

Sign him after he tests the waters.

No chance they tag Clark. I belive that would put him above Troy in salary for the year. Not going to happen.

Besides I don't think it takes anywhere near that much to get him back. I expect him to sign a 4 year deal.

But a tag doesn't come along with a signing bonus that hits the cap like a signing would. Even if you sign him for 2-4 years most players want a signing bonus because they know the contract isn't guaranteed. And the bonus hits the cap, usually the year it is given, and with all the signings we have to look at, using both tags could be a way to get through a tough cap season.

They are talking each team having 3 tags, I see teams using them, including the Steelers.

I think that even with a signing bonus, Clark will still be more affordable without the tag after he tests the waters.
