I hope he recovers and has a good year for the Giants. This also points out what a good trade this was for the Bucs. That is true regardless of what happens with Alderson. The Bucs got a top prospect for an injury-prone player who had been slipping performance-wise anyway.

I thought this comment was on the mark and yet another reason why the Pirates are on the right path:

Remember Giants fans, Brian Sabean boasted about scouting both Sanchez and Garko in his BIG BAT vs Young Pitching give-a-way.
Since he came to the SF Giants, my posts have given him a new title. "DL Sanchez"

Following the trade, DL Sanchez couldn't walk from the visitor dugout to the home team dugout. Benjie Molina has 5 career stolen bases. Freddie "DL" Sanchez? 10 career Stolen Bases.

This is just the start of the road to the DL for many of these 33-38 year old players. The 2010 SF Giants are old and slow. Check out their ages and career SB's including Huff, DeRosa, Uribe, and Renteria (for the last 2 years has 13 Steals). Big Ballpark which brought back the triple. Sabean fields a team of old and slow who will breakdown over 162 Games. It's has already started.

The curse of Brian Sabean is men in their mid 30's who use to be something. Sabean should move to St Augustine, FL. He believe in the Fountain of Youth. Sabean is a frickin farce.

Told ya so before it started.

Let's all say a silent prayer of thanks that the spirit of DL lives on in the MLB.

I'll be surprised if Freddy amounts to **** this year. Freddy generally performs poorly coming off of injuries. I don't really know if these injuries are going to heal to the point where a 32+ year old player can rebound to his former self.

Not good for the Giants fans. Sabean has been getting HAMMERED on the net for his recent moves. The only thing really saving the Giants from Sabean's "trades and FA signings" is that they've drafted well and have a pitchingstaff that can overcome bad personnel decisions - to an extent.

I'll tell you what's so funny about this. When I saw the thread title I thought "Who?" And when I read the first post, it still didn't register. As much as I liked Freddie when he was here, he's waaaaaaaaaaay off my radar now.

I honestly have no idea why a GM would give up a very solid, young PITCHING prospect for a broken down 2B in his 30's. That, is crazy.

Huntington should be on the phone daily with this dude trying to make trades. Probably what other teams GM's were doing to Littleyield, although we really didn't have many solid minor league players to trade under him!!!

Sabean's had a couple great players come through the draft and international signings (Lincecum, Cain, and Kung Fu Panda mainly), but he's been pretty awful at everything else. He killed Littlefield twice (Matt Morris and his huge contract for Rajai Davis and a PTBNL, Jason Schmidt and John Vander Wal for Armando Rios and Ryan Vogelsong), but has been pretty awful with most of his trades, and his free agent signings have been ridiculous for the most part.

His worst trade so far has to be Joe Nathan, Francisco Liriano, and Boof Bonser for AJ Pierzynski. He probably overpaid for both Sanchez and Garko this year and didn't get much out of it, but they don't compare to that trade.

In terms of free agent signings there are too many to even begin bashing the guy. Matt Morris, Barry Zito, Michael Tucker, JT Snow, Neifi Perez, Moises Alou, Edgar Renteria, etc, etc.
