    Default Team Toughness

i think this quote says it all about the Gaborik situation earlier in the week.

"I would lose my mind if that happened against us," said Penguins forward Mike Rupp, one of the team's more accomplished fighters."

Did you notice him talk to Carcillo on the opening faceoff?

And Carcillo wasnt being a complete moron all game. Thats policing the game right there.
ďItís a game of emotion, itís a game of hard work.
Itís a game of passion, Kovalchuk, what he did the other day Ė thereís not one guy who was close to doing something. Maybe Maxime Talbot at the end with one second left. Hes about 5ft8 pfft"

    "Team Toughness"

... I think I saw some of that today against the Flyers.... While we lost the "hits" battle 39-32 and even though we ended-up with more penalty minutes (29-23), I think this squad played tough.

Just like I've said with the football season, it is even moreso true with the hockey season... "It's a marathon, not a sprint". The crucial time is once we make the playoffs.

    ... Just my opinion.

The 2nd half of March is the most crucial time of any hockey season IMO. Momentum heading into the playoffs huge, as is going into the playoffs playing average hockey or your worst hockey of the season. You want to start hitting your stride about mid March. I say mid-March and not the beginning of March cause you need to allow a few weeks for the trades to get worked in. Just about every team will make a trade that alters the lineup for March.

Outside of those last few games of a season if you have a playoff spot secured... Mid March to the end of the season in April is like "Pre-Playoffs". I think it is one of the most important times of the season
