It sucks for me on two accounts, the most important he's not helping the team and the other if he doesn't get his head right in a hurry I'm going to lose a bet.

Sweed could be a very good WR in this league if he could just play instead of think. You watch that kids highlight reel from Texas and come away thinking first round pick type of ability...

I know it is only preseason, but he was doing really, really well in preseason. Thought he got out of the funk.....

Maybe Stonio needs to just take him for a ride and pass him a blunt to chill him out.

I think he needs to see a sports psychologist..... He has the talent, but fails on game day.... Somehow he needs to work this out... He's a good WR, but has a bad case of the dropsies.....

Of course the guy should be lacking confidence...he can't catch a ball.

The bigger thing is that its not that he's dropping first down passes...he's getting separation and getting open and dropping TD passes. That's the biggest problem. He's costing us points.

The good note, though, is that he IS getting separation which is different than many young receivers or receivers of his size.

Maybe he's getting seperation because every DB in the league knows he can't catch. He could be wide open without a DB within 30 yds and he'd still drop it.I say we cut our losses.

Any time I think of what a 'sports psychologist' would be or what they would do...The movie 'The Natural' pops into my head...

I can't remember a season where at least one of our receivers didn't take a game or two off. Would love for everyone to play every game but you know how it is, long season. I think he will get a chance to get back on the field. Personally I am not sure he was handled the right way by coaching. Seems like they have done as much or more damage to the kids confidence as the drops themselves.

In preseason he was looking great.

Catching hard balls in traffic and everything....

The worst part of this is that I can't taunt Les with the kids success.

Yep I agree in preseason he surprised the heck out of me and seemed poised to do good in the regular season. I say its mental too and possibly he has been surprised just as the rest of us have been by Wallaces ability to become the main 3rd WR for us -- I'm sure a role that Sweed thought was his.

At this point,Sweed ought to be counting his blessings that he's even on the team.

Steelers Likely to Deactivate Limas Sweed for Browns Game --
    Sat Oct 17, 2009 --from FFMastermind.com
    http://www.ffmastermind.com/quickbits.php#179875

•The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports Steelers HC Mike Tomlin said the other day he will decide on a game-to-game basis which player will be his fourth receiver -- WR Limas Sweed or WR Shaun McDonald -- and apparently that is the case. After dressing for the game last week in Detroit, Sweed likely will be deactivated for the Browns and McDonald will be the No. 4 receiver tomorrow. The reason: The Browns play a lot of man-to-man coverage in the secondary, and the Steelers think McDonald will match up better against that scheme because he runs sharper, crisper routes.

I was kind of surprised McDonald wasn't activated to play against Detroit, his former team.
