Default Penguins Recall Forward Chris ConnerWednesday

Penguins Recall Forward Chris ConnerWednesday, 01.27.2010 / 5:05 PM / News Pittsburgh Penguins
The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled forward Chris Conner from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, it was announced by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero.

Conner, 26, was recalled Monday and was a pivotal player in Pittsburgh’s 4-2 victory over the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden that evening. Conner recorded his first career two-goal game, while also netting the game-winner in the third period. His first goal was his first as a Penguin.

Conner was re-assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton following Monday’s win. He has played seven games for Pittsburgh this season, recording three points (2G-1A) and 10 shots on goal.

The speedy forward has appeared in 24 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season and ranks fifth on the club with 22 points (7G-15A). He tied a WBS franchise record with five points (2G-3A) in a 6-3 victory over the Syracuse Crunch Jan. 23.

Conner (5-foot-8, 180 pounds) spent three-plus seasons with the Dallas Stars organization prior to signing with Pittsburgh over the summer. In 71 games with the Stars he recorded 21 points (7G-14A).

    Good. Connor deserves another game.
“It’s a game of emotion, it’s a game of hard work.
It’s a game of passion, Kovalchuk, what he did the other day – there’s not one guy who was close to doing something. Maybe Maxime Talbot at the end with one second left. Hes about 5ft8 pfft"

So this means Guerin must still be out, which was expected. I think I saw somewhere that the Pens expected to call Conner back up after they sent him down but with a 4 game break figured he could get some time in down at WBS

i still dont like Conner very much.

so next time they call another , they better to give the gay some quality time with Crosby or Geno

not on Adams line like their were doing with Jeffrey

Yeah, I still don't get why Jeffrey got buried on the 4th line and Caputi, Johnson and Conner have gotten to play in the top 6

it's not very honest ( for Jeffrey )

Jeffrey can play Even strength, power play, and penalty kill.

    not sure about Conner

Goodard and Kennedy appear to be out too.

The gay? You swing both ways, Genofan?

Hey, just kidding. I agree with you about Conner. He's too small to be effective day in and day out in the NHL.

I heard on the news about Kennedy. forgot about godard, then again godard has been useless this season, so he doesn't matter IMO.

that should leave another spot open for the forwards... have they announced another call up?

I dont understand why we have Godard exactly...not for the playoffs...and he's not been specifically helpful thus far this season.

The only player in the NHL more overpaid than MAF is Jordan Staal

He's here to keep teams honest. Sometimes it's not so much about what a goon does on the ice they can accomplish the same thing just by being dressed. Teams and opponents knowing that Godard is there, deters them.

He's not done much this year, I agree but look at the Flyers game in general. LaPierre and Carcillo for the msot part were on very good behaviors the past 2 games. Asham as well. Not 1 of those 3 want anything to do with godard, they've ducked him for a few games now and the Flyers game IMO have been really tame lately because of this.

He's doing his job, he doesn't always have to fight to accomplish it, but when Sid and Geno aren't missing team and getting pounded on like say Mario did in the 80's... then godard is doing his job
