    Default Bring back Foote

Rumor has it that Detroit may let Foote walk. After seeing Farrior show signs of age last year, and Timmons struggle a bit against the run, I'd love to see Larry back in Pittsburgh. Hopefully he didn't enjoy being a doormat in Detroit, and the Steelers could lure him back. Probably won't happen though.

Sorry, but sentementalisim is a *****... You cannot go home again... I say "no" to this notion. We will be fine without him, and moreso, are developing a LB group that he would no longer fit into with the major rotations.

.... Enjoy life in Detroit.... Simply, "It is what it is."

Why not? Is he better than Farrior is right now? Is better than Key fox? I don't necessarily know the answers to those questions, but it would make the Steelers younger and probably not for very much monetarily.

I say no. If Foote can't make it on Detriot, what the hell makes you think he can fit back in with the Steelers. All resigning Foote does is make our Linebackers older when they need to get younger. Key Fox is about the same player as Foote with better pass rush skills so why would we need Foote?

Foote was the only dude on that defense that was making plays during the Steeler game with them.

If they cut him, they are nuts.

I wouldn't say he didn't cut it. He led the team in tackles. Foote was always underappreciated by Steeler fans, because he didn't make the splash plays. He was just always in the right spot, unlike Timmons.

I say no thanks, don't need another aging D man. He had his chance to stay right here but thought he saw greener pastures, well let him find them elsewhere. He wants another big payday, he could've stayed and took the easy money they were willing to continue to pay him honoring his contract, and he could've waited till his contract was up and then go in search, but he wanted to go home. Well we see how that is working out. Only way he comes back here is for bottom dollar.

Would you say the same about any other player? And also..at what price? Also the problem is Farrior is now overpaid. The choice would be to cut Farrior and bring back Foote?

Good god Larry Foote was the most maligned Steeler on these boards for years. (Me I always liked Larry)

Blah, blah, too slow, doesn't make plays, deficiencies hidden by the talent around him.....

I do disagree that the struggle with the run (2009) was a result of Timmons/Foote. In 2007, the D struggled mightily with the run following Aaron Smith's Injury (Familiar?). Foote was on that team.

But back to Larry, there was a time that Every imaginary draft trade scenario started like this:

"Ok, we give them Larry Foote and our........"

Poor Larry Foote must have been involved in 100 different draft day trade scenarios on these boards.

I even named it, The Larry Foote Trade Up Factor:
According to many messageboarders it seemed:
Larry Foote + Any Round Draft Pick = 1 Round Better draft pick

So with that, I PROPOSE IF AVAILABLE, we sign Larry Foote and promptly package him and our 2010 2nd rounder for Detroit's 1st rounder! Why, they would be completely foolish not to want to make that deal, I mean, a chance to get Larry Foote and all.

For the most part yes. Obviously, I don't want the Steelers to overpay for the guy. NFL football is as much a business as it is a sport. I understand that guys are going to come and go due to money issues. As a fan, I'm not going to hold it against a guy (well except maybe Marian Hossa, because he was deceptive about it.) Like I stated earlier, this move would have the coaching staff's blessing. If they think Foote is a better option than Farrior, then I'll welcome him back.

I heard an interview with Larry Foote, on a local Detroit radio station, during Super Bowl XL week. He said, way back then, that he would like to finish his career with Detroit. So he was doing what he said he would do. I don't blame a guy for wanting to finish his career in his home town. It's not like he turned down more money from the Steelers to do it!

Now, I guess the Lions want to go in a different direction. I wouldn't necessarily take that as meaning Foote can't play anymore. The Lions front office decisions have left people around here scratching their heads for 51 years!!!

Besides, I kind of miss the player introduction of Larry Foote.

    Larry Foote....... Detroit Pershing........ Doughboys!!!
