Angry Penguina recall Letestu - Wallace

Pittsburgh PenguinsThe Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled forwards Mark Letestu and Tim Wallace from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, it was announced by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero.

Letestu, who turned 25 years old Thursday, has made five appearances for Pittsburgh this year. He made his NHL debut in the Penguins’ 6-5 overtime win against Boston Nov. 14, and recorded his first career NHL goal (and point) in Pittsburgh’s 5-4 victory over Buffalo Monday night.

Despite playing only 37 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this year, Letestu (5-foot-11, 190 pounds) ranks second on the team in goals (16), assists (24) and points (40). The Elk Point, Alberta native paces the team with a plus-11 rating.

Wallace, 25, has spent the entire season in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. In 47 games he has posted 14 goals and 21 points. Wallace (6-foot-1, 207 pounds) made his NHL debut last season, playing 16 games for Pittsburgh and recording two assists.

The Anchorage, Alaska native joined WBS in 2006 after playing four collegiate seasons at Notre Dame. Wallace is the Irish’s all-time “iron man” after not missing a game in four years (153 games). Wallace also played two years with the U.S. National Team Development Program from 2000-02, and won a gold medal with the U.S. at the 2000 Under-18 World Championships.

    ================================================== ========

    10:57 AM:
Penguins forward Maxime Talbot, who has missed five of the team's last six games with an undisclosed injury, did not practice with his teammates Friday morning. With Talbot out and the lack of manpower at forward, Martin Skoula did some work on the fourth line. The combinations were:

    Fedotenko-Crosby-Guerin
    Dupuis-Staal-Malkin
    Cooke-Kunitz-Kennedy
    Rupp-Adams-Skoula

Skoula 4th line wing? Interesting. Nice to know theres no room for him on the back end.
“It’s a game of emotion, it’s a game of hard work.
It’s a game of passion, Kovalchuk, what he did the other day – there’s not one guy who was close to doing something. Maybe Maxime Talbot at the end with one second left. Hes about 5ft8 pfft"

If Skoula is skating with the 4th line, I'm assuming that the rest of the D is healthy then? since they didn't call up any D-men.

Also those combos look like they were pre Wallace and Letestu coming up. There's no way (I Hope) that Chris Kunitz is playing center, let along, coming back off of injury and playing for the first time in a while and not playing a comfortable position. Probably should see Letestu Center the 3rd line .

not sure what the use for Wallace is

Wallace is pretty much a grinder at this point, so if he is dressed I suspect 3rd/4th line duties.

Me too but there's no slots open and then do we have enough roster space? If the D is healthy, that leaves Skoula on the bench, if there' only a slot for say Letestu that means Wallace is on the bench and that should be 1 too many, right?

That's right Kip. That's why I said "if he is dressed".

Anyway, I don't know who sits if Letestu and Wallace plays, other than Skoula.

Awww screw it - I'm just gonna wait until 2:00 tomorrow.

If we put Staal with Geno then someone has to center the 3rd line. Max looks like he is still out.
