Default Will the Pens make it to DC by tomorrow?

I wonder if the Pens will make it to DC tomorrow and how long it will take them? Apparently there is a record breaking snow storm going on. Up to 3 feet!!!

I see that Georgetown is playing basketball today, but I bet Villanova was already in town before the weather got bad.

    http://blog.washingtonpost.com/capitalweathergang/

Many of our best storms conclude with a final snow thump when the upper-level energy swings through and interacts with the moisture from the coastal surface low -- this one fits the bill. As temperatures continue to cool aloft and at the surface, the previously moisture-laden snow has transitioned into a fluffier and more powdery one. Accumulations are now ranging from over a foot to around two feet, leading to downed trees and wires which have helped cause numerous power outages.

Heavy wet snow continues to pile up in Cleveland Park this morning. With the low pressure slow to move out and still pumping moisture back into cold air, another general half-foot of snow should fall with some spots getting more and others perhaps less. It is likely that much of the snow from here out will be moderate until it starts to taper this afternoon, but there will also be embedded heavier bands capable of producing 1-2"+ per hour. One rather large band is currently drifting in from the north and will slowly move southeast through the entire area during the midday into early afternoon.

My son and a group of his friends have tickets for the game tomorrow and they were still tentatively planning to go. But I really think the game will be postponed because travel into the city will be too dangerous. The Pens were talking about flying to Jersey and taking a train but that might be out now too?

Super Bowl Sunday... National televised game.... my guess is the game will be played. It's a matter of what time the Pens get there. I heard they may try to fly into Richmond and bus from there. Good Luck wit dat!

Not sure what the quality of their play will be.

One of the Pens guys on Twitter said they're flying into Newark and then taking the four-hour bus ride to D.C. (which will take a heck of a lot longer in that weather, poor guys).

As long as they can get there, there's no way NBC will let the NHL cancel this game, even if there is no one in the seats.

Newark is more than 4 hrs on dry roads. No way they do that. The trains are also down I believe but may be operating by tomorrow.

A **** performance after a long layoff, then to go through a hectic travel from Montreal Canada to Washington USA in the middle of a record breaking blizzard, it will be an absolute ****ing miracle if they have any legs against the craps. I hope I am wrong, but it could get ugly, and not in a good way if you are a pens fan. We will need a goalie and at least 2 motivated centers to get 2 points. Maybe Sid will be chomping the bit to go against Ovie, I think a strong game from Sid is the only way to victory. Time will tell.

I agree Smitty! ... Plus, who knows how many times the Pens will have to get out and push the bus on the way?

I see the Thrashers finally made it out of DC and back to ATL.

I just heard an update on HNIC and they said the Pens are on the bus in Newark with a ETA in DC of 1:30AM.

HNIC just said that they talked to the Pens, who are on the bus right now, and their ETA is 1:30 a.m., and they then have a 9:30 a.m. bus to the Verizon center tomorrow. It's definitely going to be a rough game.

If all goes well they could get 6-7 hours of sleep (depending on breakfast time) Add that to the time sleeping on the plane and bus.... and they should be good to go!

I hope so. I hate Ovechkin just as much as everyone here, and I want the Pens to beat the crap out of him tomorrow.
